Last update: 16 April 2019
This page in our guide to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice focuses on Sabimaru, one of the prosthetic tools. Check our description to learn how to unlock this tool and what is its main purpose.
How to unlock Sabimaru?
Sabimaru is at the ground floor of Ashina Castle. The main entrance is guarded by a mini-boss - General Kuranosuke Matsumoto - and a few soldiers with rifles. There are three more guards with swords in the main room. Kill them and reach the back of the building - the sword is in the chest.
Using Sabimaru
The sword serves as an additional weapon to bring out blows much faster than with a traditional sword. However, this is not its main task - after performing a combination of six blows, the enemy will receive Poison status, which for a short time takes away his health, just like Burning. Keep in mind that some enemies (e.g. "non-material" enemies - ghosts) are resistant and even immune to poisoning.
Creating a full combo costs a lot of ghost symbols. A single stroke costs one symbol, but to cast a special effect, you need to make a full combination of six blows (cost: 4 ghost symbols.
Upgraded Sabimaru
The improved version of Sabimaru only requires a Loaded Shuriken and a Loaded Axe. But you get a little reward by upgrading the weapon - with the improved sword you can create a mixed combination by pressing the Basic Attack button while performing a combination with Sabimaru. Then you can smoothly return to hitting with the Sabimaru sword. This allows you to deal a lot of quick damage to the fallen boss, who cannot defend himself, much faster than you would have done with the sword itself.
