How to avoid Dragonrot spread in Sekiro Shadows Die Twice? Sekiro guide, walkthrough
Last update: 22 March 2019
This page in our guide to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice focuses on Dragonrot. This disease affects the world and makes the game more difficult. Read this page to learn about its negative effects and how to cure it.
How does Dragonrot work?
You can learn about Dragonrot for the first time after dying enough times. The Sculptor tells you that every death takes away the life force of the inhabitants of this world. This, in turn, leads to Dragonrot spread.
The most important effect of Dragonrot is the reduction of Unseen Aid. You can learn more about this mechanic on one of the pages. Unseen Aid informs you about your chance of avoiding negative effects upon death (losing XP, gold). The default value of Unseen Aid is 30%. Your deaths will lower this value.
Examining the disease
Speak with Emma in Dilapidated Temple. Go back here later - you will learn that the Sculptor's case is getting worse. Emma asks you to help her understand Dragonrot better.
Bring a blood sample of a sick person to Emma. You can't take the blood sample from Emma or the Sculptor. You need to visit NPCs and see which one of them is sick.
You can, e.g. visit merchants or villagers. In our case, we got a blood sample from Battlefield Memorial Mob.
Take a blood sample and go back to Emma. The woman will ask you to give her more time to analyze the sample. Go back here later and speak with Emma.
Curing Dragon's Blood Droplet
Emma has good news for you. She will also give you these items:
- Dragon's Blood Droplet.
- Recovery Charm.
From now on you can use Dragon's Blood Droplets at Sculptor's Idols. Thanks to them you can use Dragonrot Restoration. If you do that, the Unseen Aid will go back to 30%. This process heals NPCs who got affected by the disease. This isn't a permanent solution - your future deaths will strengthen Dragonrot and lower Unseen Aid again.
Dragon's Blood Droplets can be found during exploration or purchased from merchants (180 sen per piece). The best moment to use them is when Unseen Aid is dangerously low.
