You cant renew the number of sword attacks by killing demons with the chainsaw - Doom Eternal: Crucible Blade (plasma sword) - what enemies can I kill with it? - Combat - Doom Eternal Guide

You can't renew the number of sword attacks by killing demons with the chainsaw. You have to look for the levitating sword icons. They are visible in the game world and marked on the 3D map (after you are close enough to them).

We advise you to travel as often as possible with two sword attacks at your disposal - you will not have to ignore the supplies found along the way and at the same time, you can defend yourself in case of an extremely difficult battle.

How do I equip the Crucible Blade from my inventory?

In console versions, you have to press the right directional button on your game controller. This is only possible if you have at least one use of this weapon in stock.

Which opponents should I attack with a Crucible sword?

The Crucible Blade should be primarily used to kill the strongest demons. Perfect candidates are enemies like Arch-vile monsters (that can summon other hellish foes), whose presence can seriously complicate the mission. Other candidates, that should be killed with a plasma sword, are such demons as Baron of Hell, Cyber-Mancubus, or the Tyrant.

The energy sword cannot be used to kill Marauders - powerful demons using red shields - Doom Eternal: Crucible Blade (plasma sword) - what enemies can I kill with it? - Combat - Doom Eternal Guide

The energy sword cannot be used to kill Marauders - powerful demons using red shields. If you have problems killing them, check the How to defeat Marauders? page of our guide.

The Crucible Blade will only work partially on Doom Hunter demons that travel on levitating platforms and are surrounded by a force field (example is shown in the screenshot above). Using the sword on them will only lead to the destruction of the platform. After that, you still have to finish off the enemy with other weapon or use another sword attack (the best option is to use a standard weapon in order to save some Crucible Blade attacks for later).
