Doom Eternal: Best runes to use - which ones? Doom Eternal guide, walkthrough
Last update: 20 March 2020
This page of the Doom Eternal guide explains which runes are the best and which runes should be set as active. Unfortunately, the game does not allow you to activate the maximum number of runes at the same time, so you need to select only the most useful ones.
If you are looking for more information about the runes, check a separate section of our game guide - Runes.
Just to remind you, the runes allow you to unlock passive bonuses in the game. Each time you find a rune (collectible / secret), you can choose one of the 9 passive abilities from the list.
Unfortunately, only a maximum of 3 runes can be used at the same time. So you can't have all 9 passive bonuses activated at once. Below you will find our recommendations for the best runes. If you want, of course, you can choose your own favorites. Choosing an active rune is not a final decision. If you think that the rune is not good enough, you can replace it with another one at any time during the game.
- Saving Throw - the hero can survive one attack that would otherwise end in his death. Additionally, there is a time delay (something like bullet time), which allows you to get out of a difficult situation. It is worth noting that this effect will only increase if you don't have any extra lives left. Thus, the rune will be more useful when playing at higher difficulty levels.
- Dazed and confused - flashing opponents (dazed and highlighted) are stunned for a longer time, thus increasing the probability of performing a Glory Kill on them. This is a useful bonus, especially if you want to kill some stronger demons, and you need to travel a greater distance to reach them in time.
- Blood Fueled - the main character gets a short-term bonus to the movement speed after each successful Glory Kill. This is a very useful rune if you like a fast and aggressive gameplay style. The speed bonus can help you move away from dangerous areas and effectively attack new enemies.
