After one of the earlier updates to Call of Duty Warzone gamers around the world have noticed and complained that developers were downgrading the quality of the game's graphics without adding any proper patch notes about that matter. We have decided to check whether the problem of decreased graphics quality in Warzone is such a large-scale issue and whether it has any impact on the gameplay.
Warzone - graphics downgrade
Warzone is the latest free-to-play Battle Royale mode that appeared in Call of Duty Modern Warfare on March 10, 2020. Since then it has been very popular among players and attracted positive acclaim. In Warzone, players can take part in matches in the Battle Royale mode on the giant Verdansk map. Up to 150 players can participate in a single battle! Such a huge area and number of available players on the map has affected the system requirements of Call of Duty Warzone. In other words, system requirements have increased rapidly.
Most likely, the developers wanted to make sure that Warzone can be played by as many players as possible, and that's why they decided to reduce the quality of graphics and overall visuals. Such action allowed everyone to try their luck in Battle Royale mode of Call of Duty. Below we have prepared a list of graphics changes that have been implemented in Warzone:
- Lighting quality;
- Detail and density of objects;
- Textures quality;
- Shadows quality;
- Generating leaf textures only when player is in close range.
Many players complain about the graphics downgrade which occurred in Warzone. However, it should also be taken into account that gamers who complain usually have powerful hardware and didn't have any problems with smooth gameplay earlier. On the other hand, all players with medium-quality rigs are certainly happy due to these changes, as they can more comfortably play their favorite Battle Royale title.
