Warzone: Aim Assist - advantage, how to turn on? Warzone guide, tips

Last update: 14 March 2021

In this chapter of our game guide to Call of Duty Warzone we provide information about Aim Assists. Find out what Aim Assist is for and how to use it properly.

Call of Duty Warzone is a game that has been released on PC and current generation consoles like PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Additionally, players can use the crossplatform option (which can be disabled in the game options). Crossplatform enables players of different platforms to play the game on the same servers. Console players, due to the fact that they play on gaming controllers, can benefit from an additional and extremely powerful Aim Assist option, to which players who use a mouse and keyboard have no access at all. It is worth noting here that after connecting the gaming controller to a PC, the PC players can also use the Aim Assist feature.

Aim Assist - what is it?

Aim Assist is an option that helps you target enemy players in case if you use a gaming controller while playing CoD Warzone. It doesn't matter if you're playing the game with a gaming controller on PlayStation 4, Xbox One or PC. The aim assist slows the player's crosshair as soon as it is near the target, making it easier to fire precise shots. There are currently 4 Aim Assist options available in Call of Duty Warzone:

  1. Disabled - the Aim Assist option is disabled;
  2. Standard - an option that slows aiming when the crosshair is near the target;
  3. Precision - a large aiming slowdown that activates when your crosshair gets near a target;
  4. Focusing - an option that slows aiming even if you fire a few shots and miss. This is the best option for players who are just starting to play on the controller.

Which Aim Assist option should I choose? It all depends on the player's preferences, but usually the Standard is the best option for anyone who likes to use rifles and SMGs. Precision is an excellent option for everyone who loves to play with sniper weapons.

Aim Assist - how to activate it?

The Aim Assist feature in Call of Duty Warzone is automatically set to "Standard" so you don't have to turn it on. However, if you want to use another Aim Assist option you can choose it in the Warzone's game options menu. Simply go to the Controller tab, and the Aim Assist option can be found in the Weapons section.

Unfortunately, Aim Assist gives players a significant advantage over gamers who do not use this option - especially while fighting at a distance of about 100 meters - Warzone: Aim Assist - advantage, how to turn on? - Appendix - Warzone Guide

Aim Assist - does it really provide any advantage in the game?

Unfortunately, Aim Assist gives players a significant advantage over gamers who do not use this option - especially while fighting at a distance of about 100 meters. Above this range limit, PC players, who use a mouse, have an advantage in case of sniper rifles as they can aim much faster and more accurate in order to fire a lethal shot. We regret to say that in the case of some PC gamers the best solution is to connect the gaming controller to the computer and enjoy the benefits of Aim Assist feature. On the other hand, if this option will finally get nerfed (if it happens), it may be hard to switch back to manual controls. Therefore, you have to make an individual decision if you prefer to play the game with gaming controller or keyboard & mouse.

The main problem with Aim Assist occurs during battles in the Gulag, where players are standing very close to each other. In this case, Aim Assist provides a huge advantage over an opponent who does not use this option.
