Enemies & Research in Bioshock Bioshock guide, walkthrough

Last update: 04 February 2020

On this page of the BioShock game guide, you will find a list of enemies (bestiary)and information on how to photograph them. You will learn how to photograph opponents and what this is used for.

How and why should I photograph my opponents?

About in the middle of exploring Neptune's Bounty level the hero comes into possession of the camera. When you use it to take photos of the opponents, you automatically conduct research on them. The better the photos, the faster you get bonuses related to research. The following factors influence the rating of a photo:

In favor:

On the minus side:

+ Object in motion (the enemy has noticed you and is in the process of battle)

- The subject is dead (you can photograph corpses)

+ Multiple objects in the frame (multiple opponents in the same photo)

- The object was photographed earlier (each subsequent photo of the same opponent gives us less points)

In addition to the above modifiers, the image quality is affected by the position of the object in the frame (preferably close, in the center) and the absence of elements that hide part of the object.

In practice, it turns out that it is advantageous to take 3-4 shots of each opponent, even before entering into battle with him. This way you will get all the bonuses faster. Don't worry about wasting photographic films - you can buy them from most equipment distributors (Circus of Value). It is best to start conducting research immediately after receiving the camera-there is nothing to wait for! It is also good to start studying opponents such as Big Daddies as soon as possible to get the photographer's eye 2tonic, which will significantly speed up the process of studying other opponents.

Cameras don't pose much of a threat in Bioshock. Throughout the game, they work on the same principle: they call in guard bots. It's not a problem to sneak out of the camera's field of view and destroy it. However, usually the best solution is a hack that allows bots to attack your opponents.

Research on them can be completed fairly quickly since new units are constantly coming in during an alarm - just destroy them on a regular basis, and there will be no shortage of material for photos. After reaching level 4. you no longer have to finish the hacking mini-game when you hack them.
