Basic information about BioShock trophies
- The main set of achievements consists of 54 trophies - 1 platinum (available only on PS3/PS4), 3 gold, 2 silver, and 48 bronze.
- Additional set - 12 achievements of the Challenge Room DLC. This is a group of additional challenges related to fighting enemies and saving Little Sisters. Unlocking achievements from this set is not required to unlock the platinum trophy.
- Achievements are the same across all versions of the game. They don't change for the PS3 and PS4, or for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
- You can get all the trophies within a single playthrough of the game, but it will be quite difficult. You can skip some trophies, for example, if you use the "forbidden" Vita-chamber capsule, you will miss some collectibles or will not take enough pictures of a given opponent.
- BioShock doesn't allow you to repeat chapters, but you can travel between open locations. A bathysphere is used for this purpose. The exceptions are the Welcome to Rapture and Rapture Main Controls chapters. Related sites in Rapture cannot be returned later. This means that you should explore these places at 100 percent (collectibles, etc.) during your first visit.
- You don't need to complete the entire game at the Hard or Survivor difficulty level. In the description of trophy I Choose the Impossible, we tell you about a "trick" that allows you to change the difficulty level at the very end of the game. In this way, you can" trick the game " into (mistakenly) recognizing that you completed the campaign at the highest difficulty level.
- Try to photograph your enemies as often as possible. Photo-related achievements are easy to miss, as you may stop encountering certain types of opponents at later stages of the game. This may prevent you from completing some research.
- Please note that to achieve the Tonic Collector achievement, you need to save at least 18 Little Sisters. This leads to the fact that you may not have enough ADAM to buy all the health or EVE improvements as well as additional slots (some of the tonics you should buy in the Gatherer's Gardens). Try to limit optional purchases to the necessary minimum.
- Don't kill Sander Cohen while exploring Fort Frolic. Killing this character will block you from accessing three different game achievements.
- Make sure that you have earned all the trophies associated with exploration before proceeding to the final clash. After defeating the final boss and completing the game, unfortunately, it will be impossible to continue the journey through Rapture. The only solution then will be to load one of the previous saves.
Platinum Trophy
Trophy type: platinum
Unlock method: get all the trophies.
Comment: this trophy can only be unlocked in versions released for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.
Completed Welcome
Trophy type: bronze
Unlock method: the Welcome to Rapture stage has been completed successfully.
Comment: you will find the walkthrough description for this level in our step-by-step guide. This trophy can't be missed, and it doesn't make you find 100% of the secrets within this level.
{ramkanbieska}attention-make sure you find all the audio logs in the Welcome to Rapture stage before completing it. Otherwise, you will not be able to get the Historian achievement, as you will not be able to return to the starting locations later on.{/ramkaniebieska}
Defeated Dr Steinman
Trophy type: bronze
Unlock method: crazy Dr. Steinman was defeated.
Comment: the confrontation with Dr. Steinman (mini-boss) takes place at the Medical Pavilion, which we described in detail in our step-by-step guide. This trophy can't be missed.
Defeated Peach Wilkins
Trophy type: bronze
Unlock method: defeated Peach Wilkins.
Comment: the confrontation with Peach Wilkins (mini-boss) takes place at Neptune's Bounty, which we described in detail in our step-by-step guide. This trophy can't be missed.
Defeated Atlas
Trophy type: bronze
Unlock method: Defeated Atlas.
Comment: Atlas is the final boss of the game, and you will find a description of the fight against the final opponent of the campaign in our step-by-step guide. This trophy can't be missed.
Restored the Forest
Trophy type: bronze
Unlock method: restored the forest of Arcadia.
Comment: the restoration of the forest occurs during the Arcadia stage - walkthrough description can be found in our step-by-step guide. This trophy can't be missed.
Completed Cohen's Masterpiece

Unlock method: Sander Cohen's masterpiece is complete.
Comment: you will complete Cohen's masterpiece at Fort Frolic - walkthrough description can be found in our step-by-step guide. This trophy can't be missed.
after you have fulfilled the requirements for the described achievement, Do not kill Sander Cohen, because this will block the opportunity to get more trophies!
Defeated Andrew Ryan
Trophy type: bronze
Unlock method: Defeated Andrew Ryan.
Comment: the meeting with Andrew Ryan takes place at Rapture Main Controls, which we described in our step-by-step guide. There is no real battle with the man, since it is enough to reach his office. This trophy can't be missed.
note-make sure you find all the audio logs in the Rapture Main Controls stage before you complete it. Otherwise, you will not be able to get the Historian achievement, since you will not be able to return here later using the bathyscaphe.
Weapons Specialist
Trophy type: bronze
Unlock method: earn all weapon upgrades.
Comment: the weapons in BioShock are improved by using Power to the People stations. Each station can only be used once (you can choose any weapon you currently have), and as a result, you must find all stations throughout the game.
Do not kill Sander Cohen at Fort Frolic, otherwise, you will not be able to get to the station located in his secret room.
Research PhD
Trophy type: bronze
Unlock method: all possible research has been completed.
Comment: this is the most difficult of the achievements regarding photographing enemies and security systems. You must complete all the research, i.e. unlock all the research bonuses.
First of all, look at the Opponents' and Research page of this guide. There, you will find a list of enemies and security systems suitable for photographing, and a list of research bonuses associated with each type of enemy. The camera required for taking photos will automatically be acquired at Neptune's Bounty that we described in our step-by-step guide.
Historian
Trophy type: silver
Unlock method: find all audio recordings.
Comment: this is a difficult achievement because you have to find up to 122 different audio logs during the campaign. They are collectibles / secrets in BioShock.
You can find information about where audio recordings are hidden in our step-by-step guide. Be sure to collect all the audio recordings already when completing Welcome to Rapture and Rapture Main Controls for the first time, and this is because you can't go back there later with the bathyscaphe. Omitting any collectibles in these places will not allow you to get a trophy.
Skilled Hacker
Trophy type: bronze
Unlock method: 50 hacks were successfully made.
Comment: we described in detail the mini-game about hacking locks and security systems on the Hacking page in our guide. We recommend that you take an interest in hacking from the very beginning of the game, as many devices and locks in the initial stages of the campaign have a low level of security and are easy to hack.
Upgraded a Weapon
Trophy type: bronze
Unlock method: earned the first weapon upgrade.
Comment: this is a simpler version of the weapon Specialist Trophy described earlier. Just get to any Power to the People station.
Fully Researched Bouncer
Trophy type: bronze
Unlocking method: fully researched Bouncer.
Comment: this is a simpler version of the Research PhD trophy. It involves researching Bouncer (one of Big Daddies) at 100%. Try to photograph these enemies at every opportunity to complete the research before the end of the game.
For more information, check out the separate chapters titled Opponents and researching them (a list of 5 possible research bonuses for the Bouncer) and Neptune's Bounty (the place where the camera was acquired).
Little Sister Savior
Trophy type: silver
Method of unlocking: the game is completed without killing (Harvest) any of the sisters (Little Sisters).
Comment: this achievement is related to the choice you make every time you kill a Big Daddy and catch the little sister he was protecting. You should always decide whether you want to kill a little sister (harvest) or save her (rescue) and get less ADAM. We recommend that you always choose the second option, i.e. save the sister.
It's worth noting that you don't need to catch all the sisters, because the alternative way is to just ignore them. However, this is not a recommended behavior, because the other trophy Dealt with Every Little Sister is about taking care of all the sisters. More information about the sisters can be found on the Little Sisters and Big Daddies site of our guide to the game.
Prolific Photographer
Trophy type: bronze
Unlock method: at least one photo was taken from each research category.
Comment: this is a simpler version of the Research PhD trophy. You must take at least one photo of each enemy / device associated with the ability to conduct research.
You will find a list of "candidates" for photography on the Opponents and researching them section of our guide. These are different types of splicers, two versions of daddies, a sister, a camera, bots, and turrets. For taking photos, you will need a camera, which you will automatically get at the Neptune's Bounty level.
One Successful Hack
Trophy type: bronze
Unlock method: the first hack was successfully completed.
Comment: this is a simpler version of the Skilled Hacker trophy described earlier. Hack any lock or device.
Fully Researched Thug Splicer
Trophy type: bronze
How to unlock: fully researched Thuggish Splicer.
Comment: this is a simpler version of the Research PhD trophy. This concerns researching Thuggish Splicer in 100%. Try to photograph these enemies at every opportunity to complete the research before the end of the game. Fortunately, Thuggish Splicer is one of the most common varieties of enemies.
For more information, check out the separate chapters titled Opponents and researching them (a list of 5 possible research bonuses for Thuggish Splicer ) and Neptune's Bounty (the location where the camera was acquired).
Fully Researched Spider Splicer
Trophy type: bronze
How to unlock: fully researched Spider Splicers.
Comment: this is a simpler version of the Research PhD trophy. Research Spider Splicer in 100%. Try to photograph these enemies at every opportunity to complete the research before the end of the game. Spider Splicers can be easily recognized by the way they walk on walls and ceilings.
For more information, check out the separate chapter titled Opponents and researching (a list of 5 possible research bonuses for the Spider Splicer) and Neptune's Bounty (the location where the camera was acquired).
Fully Researched Houdini Splicer
Trophy type: bronze
How to unlock: fully studied Houdini Splicer.
Comment: this is a simpler version of the Research PhD trophy. This concerns the study of Houdini Splicer in 100%. Try to photograph these enemies at every opportunity to complete the research before the end of the game. You will recognize Houdini opponents by their ability to teleport.
For more information, check out the separate chapters titled Opponents and researching them (a list of 5 possible research bonuses for the Houdini Splicers) and Neptune's Bounty (the place where the camera was acquired).
Fully Researched Lead Splicer
Trophy type: bronze
How to unlock: fully researched Lead Splicer.
Comment: this is a simpler version of the Research PhD trophy. Research Lead Splicer in 100%. Try to photograph these enemies at every opportunity to complete the research before the end of the game. Fortunately, Lead Splicer is one of the most common types of enemies.
For more information, check out the separate chapters titled Opponents and researching them (a list of 5 possible research bonuses for the Lead Splicer) and Neptune's Bounty (the place where the camera was acquired).
Fully Researched Nitro Splicer
Trophy type: bronze
How to unlock: fully researched Nitro Splicer.
Comment: this is a simpler version of the Research PhD trophy. Research Nitro Splicer in 100%. Try to photograph these enemies at every opportunity to complete the research before the end of the game. You will recognize Nitro Splicers by the fact that they throw grenades at you.
For more information, check out the separate chapters titled Opponents and researching them (a list of 5 possible research bonuses for Nitro Splicer) and Neptune's Bounty (the location where the camera was acquired).
Fully Researched Rosie
Trophy type: bronze

Comment: this is a simpler version of the Research PhD trophy. Research Rosie - a type of Big Daddy - in 100%. Try to photograph these enemies at every opportunity to complete the research before the end of the game.
For more information, check out the separate chapters titled Opponents and researching them(a list of 5 possible research bonuses for Rosie) and Neptune's Bounty (the place where the camera was acquired).
Fully Researched Little Sister
Trophy type: bronze
How to unlock: fully researched Little Sister.
Comment: this is a simpler version of the Research PhD trophy. Research Little Sisters, who are protected by Big Daddies, in 100%. Try to take pictures of the little sisters at every opportunity to complete the research before you get to the final of the game.
For more information, check out the separate chapters titled Opponents and researching them (a list of 5 possible research bonuses for Little Sisters) and Neptune's Bounty (the location where the camera was acquired).
Quality Research Photo
Trophy type: bronze
Unlock method: a high-quality research photo was taken.
Comment: This is one of the trophies associated with photographing opponents and devices-we described the mechanics of using the camera in a separate chapter titled Opponents and researching them.
If you need to unlock this achievement, the photo should get the highest rank - A. Your chances can be increased if several opponents fit in the frame and/or if they are in motion, i.e. attacking the main character (you can intentionally let yourself be noticed by enemies).
Hacked a security bot
Trophy type: bronze
Unlock method: successfully hacked a Security Bot.
Comment: This is one of the trophies regarding the hacking mini-game that we described in detail in the chapter titled Hacking. You must hack a Security Bot, that is, a flying machine that can fire from the air.
It is much easier to hack an inactive bot. If you want to hack an active flying bot's system, you must first temporarily immobilize it by using Electro Bolt or Winter Blast.
Hacked A Turret
Trophy type: bronze
Unlock method: successfully hacked a Turret.
Comment: This is one of the trophies regarding the hacking mini-game that we described in detail in the chapter titled Hacking. You need to hack any Turret.
Turrets fire at the hero after he is within their range. If you have this option, you can try to approach the tower from a safer side. But the easiest way to temporarily sabotage the turret is to use Electro Bolt or Winter Blast.
Hacked a Security Camera
Trophy type: bronze
Unlock method: the security camera has been successfully hacked.
Comment: This is one of the trophies regarding the hacking mini-game that we described in detail in the chapter titled Hacking. You need to hack any Security Camera.
Cameras are attached to walls and can trigger an alarm if you are in their sight long enough. You can get closer to the camera by using the fact that it rotates. This will allow you to quickly run and get beneath it. If you are in a hurry, temporarily sabotage the camera by using Electro Bolt or Winter Blast.
Hacked a Vending Machine
Trophy type: bronze
How to Unlock: a Vending Machine has been hacked.
Comment: This is one of the trophies regarding the hacking mini-game that we described in detail in the chapter titled Hacking. You must hack any vending Machine including Ammo Bandito, Circus of Value, or U-Invent.
Please note vending machines usually have a higher level of security, so the hacking mini-game can be more difficult to complete. Fortunately, one successful hack is enough to unlock this trophy. If you can't handle a particular machine, look for another one.
Hacked a Safe
Trophy type: bronze
Unlock method: the safe has been successfully hacked.
Comment: This is one of the trophies regarding the hacking mini-game that we described in detail in the chapter titled Hacking. You have to hack any locked Safe.
Please note safes usually have a higher level of security, so the hacking mini-game can be more difficult to complete. Fortunately, one successful hack is enough to unlock this trophy. If you can't handle a given safe, look for another one.
Avid Inventor
Trophy type: bronze
Unlock method: 100 items have been successfully invented.
Comment: inventing items actually means crafting them-it's a trophy about crafting. To craft new items, you can use the U-Invent stations we have described above in this guide. To unlock this achievement, you can create any object, such as ammunition. At the same time, be sure to carefully examine the surroundings and get the necessary raw materials for crafting.
Ammo Inventor
Trophy type: bronze
Unlock method: all available types of ammunition have been successfully invented.
Comment: this is a simpler version of the Avid Inventor achievement described above. In this case, it is required to "only" produce at least 1 piece of ammunition of each type. There are 6 types of ammunition available in BioShock:
- Antipersonnel Pistol Bullets
- Armor-Piercing Machine Gun Rounds
- Electric Gel
- Exploding Buck
- Heat-Seeking RPG
- Trap Bolts
Tonic Collector
Trophy type: bronze
Unlock method: 58 physical, engineering, and combat tonics have been acquired or invented.
Comment: This trophy forces you to get all available tonics. You can read about them in the Tonics - description and Tonics - Maps sections of our World Atlas. There you will learn how you can get individual tonics and where you may need to look for them.
this trophy is best done in parallel with the Reserch PhD achievement and other tasks involving photographing opponents. Some tonics are obtained via the research bonuses received.
{ramkaczerwona}Don't kill Sander Cohen at Fort Frolic level, otherwise you won't be able to get one of the tonics, and you will lose your chance to unlock this achievement.{/ramkczerwona}
Seriously Good at This
Trophy type: bronze
Unlock method: completed the game on the hard difficulty level.
Comment: you don't need to go through the entire game with high difficulty. You can "cheat" the game and use the method we included in the description of Trophy I Choose the Impossible. You can also find more information about the available difficulty settings on the higher difficulty levels page of our guide.
Basic Inventor
Trophy type: bronze
Unlock method: successfully invented the first item.
Comment: this is a much simpler version of the previously described Avid Inventor achievement. Just craft any object (for example ammunition).
Broke Fontaine's Mind Control
Trophy type: bronze
Unlock method: Break Fontaine's mind control.
Comment: This is one of the trophies associated with progress in the game's main storyline and it can't be missed. The hero can find an antidote to free himself from the effects of mind control in Suhong's office at Apollo Square. We have described this entire level in detail in our step-by-step guide.
Bought One Slot
Trophy type: bronze
Unlock method: you purchased one plasmid or tonic slot.

Researched A Splicer
Trophy type: bronze
Unlock method: the first research photo of a Splicer was taken.
Comment: this is a much simpler version of the Research PhD trophy. After the Neptune's Bounty stage, you will automatically get a camera. You must take a photo of any Splicer you encounter and get any photo rank (A, B, or C).
Deal with Every Little Sister
Trophy type: bronze
How to unlock: killed (Harvested) or saved (Rescued) all possible Little Sisters.
Comment: this achievement is related to the choices you make each time after killing a Big Daddy and capturing the Little Sister he was protecting. You should always decide whether you want to kill a little sister (harvest) or save her (rescue) and get less ADAM. We recommend that you always choose the second option, i.e. save the sister.
You must capture all the sisters within a single playthrough. Carefully explore all the locations and consider that even after you encounter some sister in the same area, another one may soon appear (along with another Daddy). It is worth to take another round through the same rooms, listening to the Daddy's footsteps and to the questions Little Sisters asks. You must catch all the sisters and get an achievement before moving on to the strict final. More information about the sisters can be found on the Little Sisters and Big Daddies site of our guide to the game.
Maxed One Track
Trophy type: bronze
How to unlock: you purchased all the plasmid or tonic slots in the same category.
Comment: this is a more complex version of the Bought One Slot trophy described earlier. Focus on a single category of plasmids or tonics.
Maxed All Tracks
Trophy type: bronze
How to Unlock: all plasmid and tonic slots were purchased in all four categories.
Comment: this is an even more complex version of the Bought One Slot trophy described earlier. We advise you to look again at Little Sisters and Big Daddies section of our guide. A total of 1,360 ADAM units are required to purchase all slots. Try to catch all the sisters you encounter so you will have a chance to collect the necessary amount of ADAM.

Comment: this is a simpler version of the weapon specialist achievement described earlier. For reference, you can unlock weapon upgrades by interacting with Power to the People stations.
Became a Big Daddy
Trophy type: bronze
How to Unlock: Transformed into a Big Daddy.
Comment: the main character decides to become a Big Daddy when completing the Prometheus Point level, which we described in detail in our step-by-step guide. This trophy is linked to progress in the main storyline, and you can't miss it.
Lucky Winner
Trophy type: bronze
How to Unlock: win the jackpot in a Slot Machine.
Comment: you can find slot machines during the game-the first objects of this type are located at Fort Frolic.
You must pay for each subsequent use of the machine. You must perform this action until you get the top prize. If you don't want to spend money unnecessarily, save the game right before you interact with the slot machine. This will allow you to return to the previous state and "retrieve" the money after the achievement.
Irony
Trophy type: bronze
How to Unlock: a photo of Sander Cohen's corpse was taken.
Comment: you will meet Sander Cohen for the first time at Fort Frolic, but do not kill him, because this will block your access to several other trophies, i.a. to the Found Cohen's Room achievement described below.
Wait until you get to the Olympus level, which we have, of course, described in detail in our step-by-step guide. You meet Cohen again at his apartment. There you will see a couple of Houdinis dancing. Hit the gramophone and kill the splicers. This will lead to the appearance of Cohen, and the fight against him will begin. After defeating Cohen, stand next to his corpse and use the camera.
Found Cohen's Room
Trophy type: bronze
How to Unlock: enter Sander Cohen's private apartment.
Comment: this achievement is directly related to the Irony trophy described above. If you didn't kill Sander Cohen at Fot Frolic, you can see his private apartment in the Olympus level.
Toaster in the Tub
Trophy type: bronze
How to Unlock: electrocuted an enemy standing in the water.
Comment: to unlock this achievement, use the Electro Bolt plasmid, which you purchase at the very beginning of the game during the Welcome to Rapture stage. From now on, you can look for opportunities to electrocute opponents. A great opportunity appears i.a. in the final part of the Welcome to Rapture level. Then the main character may face a group of splicers standing in the water. Quickly activate the Electro Bolt to hit them before they get out of the water.
A Man Chooses
Trophy type: Gold
How to Unlock: complete the game on the Survivor difficulty level.
Comment: you don't need to complete the entire game at the highest level of difficulty. You can "cheat" the game and use the method we included in the description of the I Choose the Impossible trophy below. You can also find more information about the available difficulty settings on the higher difficulty levels page of our guide.
I Choose The Impossible
Trophy type: Gold
How to Unlock: the game was completed on the Survivor difficulty level and without using Vita-chamber capsules.
Comment: first of all, it should be noted that the Vita-chamber capsules can be disabled from the game options menu (Gameplay Options-this is shown in the screenshot above). This will save you from making a mistake in case of death. Fortunately, this is not a giant obstacle. After the death of the hero, you just need to load some previous state of the game.
You can use an exploit / deception that allows you to get a trophy without having to go through the entire game on the Survivor difficulty level. Here's how to do it:
- Complete all the main stages of the game at any lower level of difficulty.
- To be sure, create a manual entry before getting into the strict final.
- Fight the final boss of the game (Fontain) at any lower level of difficulty.
- Play a battle with a monster, ending with the fact that you stick a syringe in Fontaine.
- Immediately after defeating the boss, the screen will flash white-quickly stop the game. You must do this BEFORE the final cutscene is initiated.
- Go to the Gameplay Options and in the difficulty field, change it to the highest - Survivor.
- Resume the game and watch the final video. You should be rewarded with a trophy for completing the game at the Survivor difficulty level.
If you didn't get the trophy, repeat the fight and try again. You should ideally "shoot" with the dilution of the game when the screen is all in White.
Brass Balls
Trophy type: Gold
How to Unlock: complete the game on high difficulty level (Hard) without using Vita-chamber capsules.
Comment: this is a simpler version of the I Chose the Impossible trophy described above. If you finish the game on the Survivor difficulty level (also based on the trick described above), you will also get the described trophy associated with the high difficulty level.

Attention-this is a trophy of the challenge Room add-on. It is not required to unlock the platinum achievement.
