Gameplay
Gearbox type - You can change your gearbox type here. It has been described above.
Fatigue simulation - after turning this option off your character will not need to sleep and will not feel tired.
Steering autocenter - Option available only for steering wheels and gamepads users. It centers the driving trajectory after, for example, letting go of the wheels after turning.
Braking intensity - Here you can decide how strong are your breaks which has an direct impact on your braking distance (the intensity grows as slider is set nearer to the right). For the braking intensity to be realistic the slider should be in the middle.
Trailer stability - Change the intensity of trailer rocking left and right (the intensity grows as slider is set nearer to the right).
Truck speed limiter - This option can lock the maximum speed at 65 miles per kilometer. If it is turned off, your truck can ride faster.
Automatic retarder - American Truck Simulator automatic retarder activates during the braking. You will need some time to get used to it.
Automatic exhaust brake - It greatly increases braking distance and reduce your gear during the braking.
Automatic engine and electricity start - If on, then turning the engine will require only pressing the [W] button. Otherwise, you will have to start your truck manually by using the (default) [E] button.
Automatic drop of liftable axis - If you have this option activated the axle that was manually dropped down will automatically lift when it detects no trailer attached.
Air brakes simulation - Air is the source of energy in brakes. If you stop the truck and won't be able to move it again, you should turn the neutral gear and accelerate until the air returns to the brakes.
Realistic fuel consumption - Mandatory option for those who prefer realistic approach. It changes the fuel consumption and force the player to more economic driving.
Route Advisor speed limit - Shows the road speed limit on GPS.
Cruise control grid step - You can set the acceptable speed change while riding on or off an elevation.
Smart cruise control (retarder only) - If you use retarder while cruise control is on, your speed can change and smart cruise control will not let it happen. Here you can set the tolerance in mph.
Parking difficulty - Here you can set how the game should set unloading zone at your destination. It's a new function described in other part of the guide.
Rain probability - As slider is nearer the right side, the probability for a rain fall increases.
Online news - Shows information, for example, about a new version of the game (internet connection required).
Image spotlight - Community screenshots selected and added to the game by the moderators are shown while the game is loading.
Show cutscenes- This option allows watching movies in ATS, for example during the cargo unloading etc.
Invert mouse - if you move your mouse left, the cursor moves right and if you move your mouse right, the cursor moves left.
Steering camera rotation - This function works when the outside camera is set. After activating it makes controlling the camera easier. It changes by itself to adjust to the driving direction, for example when you turn left the camera also turns left instead of staying in the same place.
Steering camera factor - When the slider is closer to the left side the camera turns more while turning.
Steering camera rotation on reverse - Works similarly as camera correction in driving direction but after you go back.
Blinker camera rotation - This function works when interior camera is one. It makes it easier to watch the mirrors. When you activate right indicator the camera will automatically move towards the right mirror.
Physical camera movement - Improves camera correction.
Physical camera movement factor - When you set the slider to the right the camera is more precise.
