Parking the trailer | Driving your truck across the States American Truck Simulator Guide

Last update: 11 May 2016

One of the most important things is handling the trailer - Parking the trailer - Driving your truck across the States - American Truck Simulator - Game Guide and Walkthrough

One of the most important things is handling the trailer. When you deliver cargo (whether it is a quick order or consignment market) it is worth parking the trailer in the right place to gain all the EXP points. There are three ways in which you can park in American Truck Simulator:

  • Hard - only experienced drivers will handle it. Sometimes you must maneuver the trailer to very narrow places. It isn't easy, but you will be rewarded with large number of experience points.
  • Normal - this one shouldn't be troublesome, all you need to do is drive frontally to the marked place. You will receive less experience.
  • Easy - If you don't have time for parking the trailer, you can use this option and a virtual driver will park it for you. You won't receive any experience points if you select this option.
If the task is too hard for you, ask the virtual driver to park for you - Parking the trailer - Driving your truck across the States - American Truck Simulator - Game Guide and Walkthrough

If the task is too hard for you, ask the virtual driver to park for you. Drive to the selected location and press [Enter]. Remember that you won't receive experience points if you choose to use that function.

Reverse parking

If you want to back-in your trailer, you have to learn how the trailer reacts to steering wheel. Find the perfect position, put in reverse gear and start driving to the back. To turn the trailer left, turn the steering wheel right (and vice versa). Do not turn the steering wheel violently as the trailer may turn too much and you will have to start all over again. What can make things even harder is using the "long" trailer type. They are much longer than the regular ones and turning them is more complicated.

When the trailer is turned enough, start turning the wheel the other way to set the truck straight - Parking the trailer - Driving your truck across the States - American Truck Simulator - Game Guide and Walkthrough

When the trailer is turned enough, start turning the wheel the other way to set the truck straight. Continue going back, but do it gently, to keep the truck straight.

Park the trailer where you should - Parking the trailer - Driving your truck across the States - American Truck Simulator - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Park the trailer where you should. You do not have to be very precise, just wait until the white marks turn green. When that happens, close the order ([T] by default). The task shown on the screens wasn't very hard, but remember that you can face much harder one.

Front parking

After selecting the option to park frontally an alternative parking position for the trailer will be assigned - Parking the trailer - Driving your truck across the States - American Truck Simulator - Game Guide and Walkthrough

After selecting the option to park frontally an alternative parking position for the trailer will be assigned. This task should be easy for every driver as all that needs to be done is drive few meters forward and drop the trailer in the assigned location. No maneuvering is required.
