Walkthrough - Taipei - Retrieve NSB Data from Grand Hotel | Taipei Alpha Protocol Guide

INTRODUCTION:

You can buy additional Intel for this mission (use the computer in the hideout and choose Clearinghouse). The available options are:

- A map with security system marked on it. It's of course worth the price, as it costs less than a 1000 dollars.

- An additional goal connected with the other person present at the hotel. It's also a considerable option, especially that completing it won't be hard.

- Previous items left at the hotel at the hotel. I'd once more suggest buying this, as the investment will pay off with interest.

- Presence of less experienced staff at the hotel. It's an interesting option which should interest you if you intend to keep the employees alive (killing them will worsen your relations with Mina).

MAP:

SPEAKING WITH THE OTHERS PARTICIPANTS:

Before you begin, you will talk with the other characters that will help you in completing this mission. Apart from Mina, it will be Heck and Scarlet. Generally the dialogue options you choose won't influence the mission too much. You can just more or less openly as Heck to refrain from causing unnecessary casualties. If you want to gain rep points, you should choose suave style while talking with Scarlet (professional at the end) and aggressive style in case of Heck.

MEET WITH HECK:

You begin at the hotel room (M17, 1). There's no need to sneak, as there are no guards in the area. Go out of the room and head south to get to the elevator (M17, 2). Use the panel and wait for the elevator to go down. Move forward and you should notice that Heck got into a fight with the local guards. It'd wise to help him. If you want to avoid getting detected, you have to avoid the two security cameras in the area. You can disable them by hacking into the computer terminal in the middle room (screen) (M17, 3).

OBTAINING THE HOTEL MAP:

Take a look round the area to fins, inter alia, the Extended Pistol Clip (pistol upgrade) (M17, 1), Over-sized Pistol Clip (pistol upgrade) (M17, 2) and the Ultralight Barrel (SMG upgrade) (M17, 3). Additionally you can gain precious Intel on the NSB organization by breaking into one of the computers (M17, 1). Afterwards head to the computer terminal marked by the game (M17, 4). Traditionally you can either solve a mini-game or use an EMP.

MEET WITH SCARLET:

Now you can head to the newly unlocked northern passage (M17, 5). After getting to the staircase go up, having a conversation with Scarlet on the way. Your goal is to get to the Penthouse level and go through the northern door (screen) to meet with the journalist (M17, 6).

SIDE MISSION - FRAME HALBECH REPRESENTATIVE:

Get back to the staircase and this time go to the highest, sixteenth floor. Head to the eastern door (M17, 7), with an "employees only" warning next to it (screen). Break inside by solving a mini-game (it may be very difficult) or using an EMP. Inside there's a computer terminal (M17, 8), which you must hack in order to frame the given person.

GETTING TO THE APPOINTED ROOM:

There are two paths leading to the marked hotel room. You can choose either the passage by the place where you talked with Scarlet (M17, 6) or stay at the top level and hack the security on the western door for a change (M17, 9). I'd definitely suggest the second option, as you will get onto the upper balcony (screen).

The area will be patrolled by at least two enemies. Eliminating them silently is of course absolutely possible. And I'd suggest securing the area right now. Note that that if you're on the lower floor, it will be harder to get to the upper balconies, as there's a camera by the stairs nearby the elevator. Ultimately you need to get to the hotel room located in the upper left corner of the (M17, 10).

SIDE MISSION - GAINING ADDITIONAL INFO:

Nothing complicated here - you will find the laptop with the needed Intel in the main room (M17, 11). You need to hack it by solving a mini-game or using an EMP.

OBTAINING AN ID:

You will find the ID inside the hotel room as well (M17, 12). Before you take it it's worth to break into the nearby safe (M17, 2) in order to gain additional Intel on the Halbech organization.

GETTING TO THE CONFERENCE:

Another easy task. Get out of the hotel room and return to the lower floor (going through the staircase or using the stairs by the camera). Head to the newly unlocked elevator (M17, 13), use the control panel and wait until it arrives at the desired floor.

ACQUIRE THE NSB INTEL:

In order to complete this goal, you need to get to the computer located in one of the southern rooms (M17, 14). The terminal is being guarded by four guards and if it doesn't bother you, you can go along the western corridor (M17, 15) to reach and destroy them. On the other hand if you'd like to do things silently, begin with eliminating a single guard patrolling the mentioned corridor. Afterwards take the eastern passage (screen) (M17, 16).

Get to the eastern room (M17, 17) and wait for a single guard to enter. Approach him from behind and afterwards head to the room with terminal (M17, 14). Two guards should be standing here - firstly eliminate the closer one and then take care of the guard by the terminal (screen). Hack into the computer to complete his goal. Now you need to decide if you want to help Heck, or just focus on safely leaving the hotel.

SIDE MISSION - DELETING HECK'S FILES:

If you want to help Heck, you need to once more use the terminal (M17, 14). Note that it will start an alarm and you have to lift the blockade put on the entire hotel. Choose one of the two passages leading to the bigger room (M17, 18). After getting there (M17, 19), you will see Heck fighting the hotel's employees. You can help him (reinforcements will keep on coming for a short while) or ignore them. Your goal is to get to the stairs located in the upper right corner of the room (M17, 20).

Move to the small rooms in the area. In one of them you will find a terminal (M17, 21) and hacking it successfully will result in turning off the alarm. Use the chance to break the security on the metal gate and take the Printed Circuitry (armour upgrade) (M17, 4).

ESCAPING THE HOTEL:

You can get to the corridor described below in both cases, that is gaining the NSB Intel as well as helping Heck and disabling the blockade. Head towards the main room (M17, 19) a choose one of two passages located by the reception (M17, 21). You can ignore the main hotel exit; you'd only get informed that this way is impossible by approaching it.

Head to the south-west, avoiding one security camera on the way. Ultimately you need to reach the elevator (M17, 22) and you probably should do it as fast as possible, as new enemies might appear in the meantime. If you helped Heck, you will get two relation points with him at the end of the mission. Regardless of the chosen options, you will unlock a new mission - Intercept Assassination Plans. After you return to the hideout, After you return to the hideout, don't forget to send the Intel collected on the Halbech organization to one of the three possible places.
