All story missions

1. The main part of the campaign in Aliens Dark Descent is preceded by a prologue on the Pioneer Station, during which you will get to know the character, Maeko Hayes, and learn basic gameplay mechanics.
2. After completing the prologue, you will get on the wreck of the USS Otago ship, and you can order deployment orders from the command deck, i.e. transporting a marine unit to locations related to the main story missions.
3. The campaign consists of a total of 12 long missions. Each of them takes place in a different part of the Lethe moon, for example, in a colony or a former mine. In each of these locations, there are several maps to explore, as each floor is a separate map.

Main and optional objectives and mission completion

The seemingly small number of main missions is misleading. Aliens Dark Descent is a long game, and you will spend an average of several hours with each mission.

An interesting fact is that you don't have to complete the entire mission in one go. This is a results of, among other things, the growing Alien aggressiveness. The game allows you to interrupt the mission, return to the base, and resume the battle in the same place without losing progress. You can also revisit locations from previous missions to, for example, finish checking them with a more powerful team and achieve 100% search completion.

The length of the mission is primarily influenced by the optional tasks you can engage in besides accomplishing the main mission objectives. In addition, you can find secrets (datapads, Xenotech), collect loot (primarily materials for spending at the base), and discover maps 100 percent.
