Choosing a marine class in Alien Dark Descent should be well thought out so the squad is diversified. In our guide, we've described all character classes - Engineer, Medic, Sergeant, Gunner, and Recon. You will learn about their unique features and abilities and how to choose classes for marines. We have also developed a recommended squad.

How to unlock character class selection?

  1. All marines start at level 1 with the status - Rookie. This means they are inexperienced marines and do not yet have access to classes associated with advanced skills.
  2. You must advance every soldier to level 3 by taking them on missions. You can promote them on the mission summary screen or in the barracks, and a class selection window will appear.
  3. The game always offers 2 classes to choose from the 5 available in the game. So you can't always choose exactly the class you want at a given moment.
  4. Once selected, the class cannot be changed. Try to pick up different classes so that you always have diverse marines to choose from to take on a mission.

Class #1 - Gunner

  1. The Gunner is a typical offensive class. Its most important feature is that it is the only one that allows using the M56 Smart Gun. These are great main weapons that can help you in dealing with Xenomorphs easier.
  2. The Gunner can also use revolvers as a secondary weapon. They can save lives when the ammunition for the Smart Gun runs out.

Class #2 - Medic

  1. Medic is a support class, and, as its name suggests, its primary use is more effective healing of squad members. The Medic class shorten the time needed to heal another soldier by 50%. This is very important when you need to recover your health quickly before the next attack.
  2. Medics have revolvers as a secondary weapon.

Class #3 - Tecker

  1. Engineer is a class that helps in exploring maps. It has hacking skills, thanks to which you can open encrypted doors. This allows you to gain access to new passages and secret rooms on the map.
  2. Marines from the Engineer class have revolvers as a secondary weapon.

Class #4 - Recon

  1. The Recon is a great class for quietly eliminating opponents without alerting the entire area about the team's actions. This is possible thanks to using a sniper rifle - it is a unique Special Weapon available exclusively for this class. It allows for effective attacks from long distances before being detected.
  2. The Recon may also rely on a revolver as a secondary weapon.

Class #5 - Sergeant

  1. The Sergeant serves the role of a team leader and keeps the rest of the team in good mental condition. They high charisma allows for adding Bravery for all the remaining soldiers in the unit. The Sergeant can also increase the Command Point limit to activate skills more often.
  2. Sergeants own revolvers as their secondary weapon.

What is the best squad?

Initially, the unit may consist of 4 marines. Our suggestions are:

  1. Gunner x2 - They will become the offensive part of your team, using Smart Guns and other powerful primary weapons.
  2. Recon x1 - After equipping them with a sniper rifle, you can eliminate distant enemies easily and quietly.
  3. Medic x1 - His presence is especially invaluable at higher difficulty levels, but choose this class on normal as well.

After completing mission 6, you will unlock the 5th character slot. We recommend choosing one of the two classes:

  1. Sergeant x1 - In addition to increasing the team's Bravery, it will also be possible to increase the Command Point limit.
  2. Tecker x1 - Choose this class if you want to regularly use its hacking abilities.
