During the gameplay of Aliens Dark Descent, you need to manage ammunition reserves skillfully so there is no chance of unexpectedly running out of it in the middle of a firefight. Ammo Clips

1. Ammo Clips are one of the main resources of your marines. Current supply of them is displayed in the upper part of the screen.
2. Clips are only needed for main weapons, e.g. impulse rifles used from the very beginning of the game. Secondary weapons don't use ammo clips, but are characterized by low firepower. Special Weapons(such as Shotgun, Flamethrower, Sniper Rifle) require command points to use them.
3. Ammo Clips are available to and used by all marines in the squad. Each reload of a main weapon lowers the number of carried Ammo Clips by 1.

Finding additional ammunition during missions

The ammunition you have on you after returning from USS Otago doesn't have to last to the very end of the mission. Fortunately, there are additional Ammo Clips to find during exploration.

The best source of them are Ammo Crates - they have a clip icon on them and are marked on your map (for them to appear, you need to explore the given room and find the crate).

Another way of acquiring ammunition is looting Military Corpses. Items and resources found this way are random, but there is a chance of looting an Ammo Clip. Military Corpses appear on your map as question marks after you explore an area fully.

How to conserve ammunition?

During a mission, you should avoid depleting ammunition completely, especially if there are still some objectives ahead of you. In such situations, it is better to exfiltrate from the mission zone and return to it after a visit to USS Otago. Other than that, there are some simple techniques that help conserve ammo. Here are some of them:

1. Set up Sentry Guns - these turrets are characterized by a lot of firepower and can help your marines eliminate multiple xenomorphs without spending a drop of the squad ammo.
2. Avoid premature reloading - by default, each marine reloads his weapon after all ammunition from the clip has been used up. Force earlier reloads only if there is a big battle imminent, and all squad members have depleted clips.
3. Retreat to the ARC - the armored carrier's gun has unlimited ammo and is also very powerful.
4. Use Suppressive Fire less often - this is a useful skill, but consumes a lot of ammo. Only use it if you want to slow down a group of xenomorphs rushing to your position or deal with an elite monster.
5. Choose soldier perks connected to ammunition - for example, it can be a perk that refills ammo clips after every rest in a shelter. Every little bit counts.

How to take more ammo with you on a deployment?

By default, each marine begins with 2 Ammo Clips. You can increase this limit by 1 thanks to Ammo Bag upgrade. Look for opportunities to choose it in the barracks when browsing the list of upgrades for given marine.
