Encountering Xenomorph in the server room
After reaching Cerberus' room, your first fully-fledged encounter with a Xenomorph awaits you. Hayes withdraws to the server room, and you have to escape from it without being noticed.
How to stealth in the server room?
This is the most difficult part of the prologue, in which you will probably die at least once.
An example route is shown in the picture 1:
- point 1 is the beginning of stealth, which is the area near the entrance to the previously investigated Cerberus' room;
- point 2 is the destination - exit of the large hall;
- Arrows indicate the recommended path- you should stay to the sides of the room and avoid moving in the open space in the central part of the server room at all costs.
After escaping to the server room, the game will launch a tutorial on stealth basics:
- Your character can hide behind obstacles and remain behind them in a crouched position (CTRL key) to disappear from the monster's field of view.
- On the screen, a line may appear symbolizing the enemy detection time. The yellow color of the line indicates the risk of detection. You have to go back into hiding before the line changes its color to red. This will mean being noticed by Xenomorph - because Hayes, having only a pistol, cannot defend herself, this leads to the heroine's death.
During the escape, move from cover to cover. You can use, for example, rows of computers or barrels. You can take a risk and make a few short sprints or stay in a crouched position. After reaching the cover, always crouch (CTRL key).
Xenomorph is marked on the map with a white dot, a significant hint regarding the chances of detection. Do not leave your hiding place if the monster is in the same part of the room and/or if the dot on the map is moving toward you (Hayes is the green dot).
If the creature is heading your way, stay in the same place or move slightly without "detaching" from the cover.
Do not rush to resume moving even if the Xenomorph is already facing the other way. The monster may react to the exposed character if it is close enough to him. It is safest to wait until the creature is off-screen at the highest camera zoom.
Meeting the marine unit for the first time
Upon reaching the exit of the server room, there will be a small fire, but you do not have to perform any additional actions. A group of marines will appear, who, as part of a cutscene, will get rid of the monster and allow Hayes to escape from the deadly trap.
