Technological growth in Tropico 6 Tropico 6 guide, tips
Last update: 18 March 2019
Similarly to the previous games in the series, technological growth is very important in Tropico 6. It enables you to develop new technologies and more advanced buildings. This chapter features advice related to research you can conduct during the game.
Performing any type of research requires gathering a specific number of research points. It can be done in specific buildings like Library and Research Center (unlocked in modern times). Each worker is generating a specific number of research points in given time. However, to do it, he must be in work. It might happen that despite having a few buildings of this type the points aren't generated [1].
Points are accumulated and you can use them whenever you want. Each era features an unique set of edicts. The more advanced the era, the more points you must spend. Because of that, if you quickly construct a few buildings that gather research points during the colonial era or world wars era, you will be able to develop more advanced tasks in the future.
There are three types of research in Tropico 6: constitutional (red icon), edicts (yellow icon), and building modifiers (green icon). Below you will find a list of more useful research you can conduct during the game.
Name | Era | Function |
Advanced Boat Service | Colonial era | It increases the capacity and speed of ships. It will make trading more efficient. |
Employee Of The Month | Colonial era | Increases producitivity of mine workers and industry workers. It will increase production speed on the island. |
Church Fee | Colonial era | Introduces a mandatory fee in all religion buildings. Increases profits at the expense of reduced religion happiness. |
Labor Policy | World wars | Unlocks constitutional law that enables you to determine the age when people start and end working on the island. Depending on your policy, this can shorten or increase the working time for Tropicans. |
Literacy Program | World wars | It is very useful if you qualified workers. Speeds up the process of gaining education. |
State Loans | World wars | Unlocks an edict that enables you to take credit. It will be useful if you have financial trouble. |
Emigration | Cold war | Unlocks a constitutional law that enables you to control when a citizen can leave Tropico. |
Alternative Food Source | Cold war | Unlocks an edict that eliminates the food shortage for two years. You should use it when your citizens are starting to die because of a lack of food. |
Mandatory Waste Sorting | Cold war | This edict will enable you to reduce pollution generated by residential buildings. It is extremely useful if you intend to maintain good relations with environmentalists and if you intend to have low pollution in touristic areas. |
Spelling Bee | Cold war | Issuing this edict will give 5% chance for each graduate of high school to automatically gain a college education as well. It will speed up the education process. |
Global Market Economy | Modern Times | Unlocks a constitutional law that enables you to focus your economy on basic export or trade deals. |
Speedway | Modern Times | Increases maximum speed on the roads on the island. It will speed up the transportation. |
