In Tropico 6, you'll have to face various natural disasters. They will make your game difficult more than once. Depending on the chosen frequency of appearing, they will be more or less a nuisance. The chapter below contains information regarding these types of occurrences.
During the game, you'll face a few types of cataclysms. All of them have one thing in common - they cause fires. Regardless of the type of the disaster, you need to have a few Fire Station ready. It would be good for at least one of them to have a helicopter which can be bought as a building upgrade. This will increase its effective range and will allow you to send this vehicle to a burning building.
You'll receive an information of an incoming cataclysm just before its appearance. You can now decide how to approach the disaster during its course e.g. during a drought, you can decide whether to give the water reserves to citizens or the industry.
In Tropico 6, you'll encounter following natural disasters:
- Drought - has a negative influence on the whole island. Causes fires in random places around the map. Moreover, depending on the chosen strategy, it will have a negative effect on housing or industry.
- Volcano eruption - Affects the nearest vicinity of the volcano. Fires appear only in that zone.
- Tornado - The archipelago is subjected to a tornado. The damages only appear to zones that had direct contact with the vortex.
- Meteor shower - A unique disaster. It will cause damage to nearby islands, causing only a few fires on your island. It will affect other islands very seriously - you can decide whether to accept refugees from affected islands.
- Earthquake - Influences the whole island. The amount of destroyed buildings depends on what solution you chose before the event.
- Thunderstorm - Influences the whole island. The lightning strikes buildings causing fires.
Once the disaster has ended, you'll receive a message informing you about the amount of buildings that were subjected to fires. Moreover, you'll receive financial support to pay for various repairs.
