Get to Judge's Secret Room | Explosion in Beckett's Residence The Testament of Sherlock Holmes Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
Get interested in door opposite the desk. Solid and with no handle.
Examine the Coat of Arms on the left. Click on it. It's a mechanism which opens a secret room: all materials you've collected will help you solve a riddle.
Click on a clean sheet on right, documents collected by Sherlock appear (from left):
- paper with a Greek alphabet written down by Watson;
- school book including a list of fraternities;
- fraternities' symbols from the same book;
- invitation to fraternite, which you've taken from a hall;
- fraternite's symbol photograph, taken from a wall in office.
Check a list of fraternities. You'll see that University of NY had four fraternities. Remember their coates of arms.
Now look at symbols on particular coat of arms: you know from a photograph that symbol begins with N and it contains a number pi i (3,14). Sheet with Greek alphabet tells you how this number is originally written.
Three NY coat of arms begin with N, but on the only one you can find also pi - on the one with red background. Its symbol is NZ?.
So click on the three clean parts of sheet and Greek alphabet appears. You have to choose N, Z and ?. They will be written on this sheet. It's a cipher to door. But you have to set it using rowlocks.
So insert three rowlocks in three holes below coat of arm.
Now, manipulating the three golden row below rowlocks, you have to set letters consisting a fraternite symbol: N, Z and ?.
You make it, by clicking on rows attached to the board. They are attached initially to two upper and one middle catches. But notice also, that there are two catches at the bottom, so you have five possibility of attaching rows. They are constructed in specific way: they have round ending and a second circle in a middle. Ends are attached to upper and bottom catches while middle parts to middle ones.
Row in the middle has two positions aslant. They can be set on three ways: vertical, horizontal and aslant. Endings of middle row may be attached only to upper and bottom holes, if they're free. Remaining rows, after setting them aslant, may be attached to the middle hole, if it's free. To free this hole, you need to attach a middle tow to any upper or bottom hole. It creates many possibilities of setting the rows. But you have to be careful, to not slide ending of a row on a hole which has attached a one of side rows, because it'll block the side row movements.
To make N, double click a middle hole, to which middle row is attached. First rowlock should be positioned horizontally.
To change N into Z, click a left upper hole, right bottom and two times a right upper (of course, rows have to be in all that positions). Second rowlock should go horizontal.
To change Z into ? double click on left upper hole, one on a right bottom and two times on the right upper. Third rowlock should go horizontal.
The door unlocks. Enter the secret room.
