When both men disappear, move to the glazed door leading to veranda.

Activate a metal rod and try to open the door.

The lock with a rod inside will be zoomed. You have to bend it, so it'll work as a lockpick. The pattern is visible between bolts. Looking at it click in the following order:

• first part of rod 1x down;
• second 2x up;
• third 1x up;
• and then "Confirm".

After getting on a veranda, notice a stain on the carpet and click it.

Look at the fallen ink pot.

Then roll up a bit of carpet. Underneath Holmes will find a stain of ink and understand, that the carpet was turned upside down.

Click on the carpet and Sherlock will move it away. You will see that some plates are marked as those on the chessboard.

Now pay an attention to the scarf lying by the window, behind the table. Underneath you find a chess piece: knight. Holmes finds also a letter (unidentified message) - read it.

Click on the activated chess piece in the equipment. Floor made of square plates will be zoomed. Move the knight so he touches all points of "chessboard". The touched fields will light green.

This riddle has few solutions, one on the picture above.

Using the pocket-knife get off the middle plate. Pick up hidden underneath priest's letters. Read them and leave veranda.
