New objective: Free Jackie from the Iron Maiden

Leave the starting room and follow your darkling, who will tell you something about scenes from the mental hospital. After reaching the portal listen to the end part of the conversation and then try to go through the portal. You will be moved to the real world and get control over darkling who will try to free Jackie.

New objective: Find a way into the Cellar

Head to the first room. According to the game instructions avoid illuminated areas for all costs, because darkling can easily lose the entire HP bar. Luckily, if you die, you'll be able to respawn quickly. Ignore opponents standing in light and those patrolling upper balconies. Focus on a single enemy shown on the above screen, who patrols the area. I suggest approaching him and then performing an execution (Q). Of course you could try to bypass him (and next opponents), but then you would lose a chance to get at least one achievement (and valuable essence points).

Whether you've killed the guard or passed him by, you have to head to the fireplace marked by the fame. After reaching the target stand next to the green colored barricade and press the middle mouse button. You can now jump down, reaching the cellar occupied by enemy units.

New objective: Find Jackie in the cellar

I suggest performing further actions according to instructions below, thanks to which you'll earn maximum essence points and additionally you won't be noticed. Go forwards right away and attack the enemy, who heads towards the light.

After first execution turn right, stand next to barrels and wait for another guard shown on the screen above. Turn right only after the enemy passes you by, executing him.

Now return to the earlier part of this room and go to the right. You should see a single guard there. Get him from behind and kill him. Notice also two other enemies standing in the light - you have to avoid them during further actions.

Go to another end of the cellar and wait for last, fourth guard coming from the right. You can lurk for him next to barrels on in one of the nearby tunnels. Same as before, make sure that you won't get into light during approaching the guard

You can now go towards two previously mentioned guards, standing in the illuminated place. Ignore them and find a tunnel shown on the above screen. It is located left from the guards. If you go inside, you'll be able to go pass guards.

Make sure that you've bypassed two previously mentioned guards. Approach now to the open fuse box shown on the above screen and notice that it is illuminated from time to time by a damaged lamp. Wait until lamp turns off and quickly move to the box, helping you with a sprint option (SHIFT). Quickly hit it with the middle mouse button. If you've done everything according to the plan, you'll cut off the lamp power.

You can now approach to the metal gate located on the right. Stand next to the blockade and press the middle mouse button to destroy it, thus unlocking further way. A passage on the right is inaccessible, so grab the pipe in front of you in order to get into ventilator shaft. Go through the shaft and then pass the tunnel, approaching the room with imprisoned Jackie.

New objective: Find a way to reach Jackie

Keep going through narrow tunnels. After getting close to the room with two guards, retreat a little bit, standing in the place shown on the above screen (right from the junction). Wait until both guards go to the left.

When the second guard disappears from your view, quickly exit the tunnel (you might use the sprint option here - the SHIFT key) and turn RIGHT (not towards guards!). Hide behind crates and wait for one of the guards to come here (screen above). Execute him of course.

Lean out from behind the crate now and wait until the second guard finishes his patrol (screen above). You can approach him and then perform an execution.

Ignore for a while your current objective and start exploring the room shown on the above screen. Its entrance is located in front of the desk, where one of the eliminated guards was stopping by. In this room you'll find another relic (Pope John XII - 23/29) and you can collect it in the form of darkling. After picking up the secret, resume exploring the cellar, choosing the path proposed by the game or a short tunnel.
