Firearms, as well as the bow and crossbow, are indestructible and cannot be lost except in situations that are part of the story - The Last of Us 2: Weapons, gadgets - list - Basics - The Last of Us 2 Guide

Firearms, as well as the bow and crossbow, are indestructible and cannot be lost except in situations that are part of the story. Fortunately, even if your weapons are taken from you, you will be able to recover them quickly.

Melee weapons, have limited durability - except Ellie's switchblade which can be used, e.g. to perform an infinite number of stealth kills. Each melee weapon has a certain number of uses before it gets destroyed. Fortunately, Ellie and Abby are able to use skills that allow them to repair a particular weapon once. For more information, check out the Melee weapon - is it indestructible? page in our guide.

Abby can also use disposable Shivs that work the same as in the first The Last of Us - their primary use is to eliminate clickers, but each blade can be used only once. After that, it gets destroyed and you need to craft another one.

Ellie has a switchblade - a small weapon that is mainly used in stealth kills. The switchblade is indestructible, but it inflicts little damage. This makes it a weak choice for direct confrontation. Look for a bigger melee weapon or simply start using firearms.

Ellie can pick up a variety of melee weapons found in the game world, e.g. baseball bats, hammers or machetes. It is best to look for weapons that have a large number of uses, i.e. about six. We also advise you to get Make melee upgrades passive ability that allows you to repair and strengthen your current weapon (once).

  1. Distracting opponents - This is especially effective when you encounter monsters that run to where the thrown object has landed. Later in the game, you can use throwing objects to lure enemies to your traps (e.g. trap mines), as well as lure infected to living opponents.
  2. Breaking windows- Throwing objects can help you, for example, break a window to make an entrance.
  3. Stun enemies - An opponent who is hit by a bottle or brick will be stunned for a short time (this does not apply to stronger monsters). You can use this, for example, to attack them with a melee attack, or to quickly sneak past them.
