Hommet Hears a Harpell - Hommet's quest | Companions quests Sword Coast Legends Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
During your stay at the encampment, speak with Hommet. From the conversation you will learn, that he has received a strange message, which, according to him, is worth checking. In order to do so, go to the library in the Market District (it can be found near the blacksmith, Book Cache). In the library there will be an NPC called Dagatha. After talking with the woman, you will learn that there's a book of Ashen Priest, hidden in certain catacombs and your task is to retrieve the item. Head outside the city via the nearest exit and set your destination to the Tomb of the Ashen Priest.
The catacombs are filled with numerous traps, so you should tread carefully, with the Search ability activated at all times. In order to get to the Tomb of the Ashen Priest, you must collect three torn pages from his book, which contain verses required to open the secret doors. After collecting all the pages head towards the stone altar and ask Hommet to chant the proper password combination. After a short conversation with the Ashen Priest, head towards his tomb. Kill the skeletons along the way and enter the main hall, where the Ashen Priest will be waiting for your party.
Ashen Priest will try to recruit Hommet as his disciple. Do not let that to happen by selecting denying dialogue options during the conversation. As soon as Hommet comes to the conclusion that the whole ordeal is not worth it, the encounter with the demon will begin. Ashen Priest isn't the toughest enemy in the game, but remember about his immunity to necrotic damage and complete immunity to fire. After the combat ends, pick up the Staff of Eternal Torment from the body of the dead priest and go back to Dagatha in the Market District. During the conversation with the woman you will learn, that Hommet belongs to the Harpell family, and Dagatha is his relative. Afterwards, the quest will end.
