During the second quest, "After Them", you will explore the Mercenaries' Cave. To get there, walk through the bridge and turn right. Watch out for traps inside the caves. It is a good idea to keep using the Search ability. Not only will it help you in finding items and traps, but hidden passages as well. Your first objective is to find the leader of the mercenaries. From him you will also obtain the Copper Key which will allow you to get deeper into the caves. When traveling through the corridors, you will meet Hommet (you will find him at the end of the first level of the caves). If you want, during the conversation you can make him join your party. Hommet is a wizard which, if you want, can replace other party member. It is important to leave the cleric (Ilydia) in your team because that character will support you with healing abilities. However, if your character has healing skills as well, you can switch the cleric to Hommet.
In the second level of the cave you will meet the Mercenary Thief. You can agree to his proposition (share the loot) or kill him and take all the loot. The second option is much more profitable due to the amount of gold stolen by the thief. The thief will also have a staff stolen from the goblin leader. After taking it, a new dialogue option will appear during the conversation with Trax.
Once you reach the last, third cave level, you will have to face Banagar. During the battle, most of all you should avoid any direct contact with Sir Banagar the knight. He is strong enough to knock down all your allies with a single ability. Try to keep your healer away from the heart of the battle, send the best equipped warrior to direct confrontation. Start with killing the backup of the boss, then focus on fighting Banagar. Once you reduce enough of his health points, a conversation will start. An option to capture and interrogate him will appear, but your ally won't be happy about that and will protest. The second option will be leaving him alive (none of your allies will agree on that). The last option, and the only one that all your allies will agree on, will be killing the knight. Once you kill him, look around through the cave. You will have to find evidence. In addition to the evidence, you will also find few useful items. Once you're ready, leave the cave and use the Goblin contraption mechanism in order to unlock the path for the caravan. Once you do it, go back to Jarhild for your reward.
