In Satisfactory, current stage of development and your progress is graded using achievements that allow you to develop your base. Most of the initial upgrades increase the amount of space in your backpack, which is also useful.

There are three categories of achievements:

1. HUB upgrades
2. Technologies of various tiers
3. Completing orders received from Space Elevator

HUB is the first object which you can create in the game. It is required to unlock basic technologies such as miners, smelters, or conveyor belts. As a result, upgrading HUB is very important, and yet, simple. You need to gather the required amount of materials and products. You can create items after gathering the resources and creating the needed products at the Craft Bench in HUB.

After researching all of the HUB upgrades, two new options will appear: you'll be able to study various objects found on the planet and realize orders rewarded with new technologies. These are divided into Tiers, each offering own, unique set of technologies. Most of the time, they require large numbers of products, so expanding the base is a must. You need to create production lines that will create the required number of items. From that moment, manual crafting will be more and more time-consuming.

Hard drives unlock new blueprints that can be used in production objects.

Discoveries enable you to upgrade already existing technologies or production blueprints. You'll also be able to create new items that aren't available in any other way. To do so, you'll use found animal remains, plant fragments, crystals, slugs, or hard drives. Discoveries are not required to expand the base or to push the game forward, but are immensely useful. As a result, during every trip to a new territory, gather as many items as possible to begin the analysis of as many objects and artifacts as you can. Researched objects can be then located using a special device known as Object Scanner that will inform you of their presence nearby your position.

Space Elevator is quite a challenge requiring large amount of supplies. The cost of building such object is very high, and the orders received from it are also very demanding. On the other hand, every completed order unlocks new technologies that can be bought from the HUB. Thanks to Space Elevator, you'll be able to overcome new challenges and expand your factory. Building a Space Elevator and unlocking new levels is an advanced stage of the game, where you'll need to gather more and more products of various kind, which means focusing on expanding and increasing the effectiveness of your factory.
