Pay attention to your surroundings while exploring the world
Some of the secrets hidden in the world are located in placed that are not marked on the map in any way.
Remember that you can always revisit a location or a planet
What is more, this is required if you want to collect all the items and secrets hidden in the game, as some of them will be inaccessible when visiting a place for the first time.
From time to time you will be given an item that will change the way you can explore the world significantly
If you stumble upon a place that can't be accessed (because of, for instance, a chasm) ignore it and come back later with proper gear.
Dont be afraid to improvise
If you think that you can reach a ledge, try it. Falling into an abyss has no negative effects- you just have to wait a few seconds for the game to load a checkpoint. You will be respawned exactly in the same place you were located before dying.
Destroy everything that you can
Those can be barrels, boxes, rails and other containers. Everything you destroy will reward you with bolts, that can be used to purchase new weapons, and refill your ammo and health.
Complete side quests
Those aren't necessary to complete the game, but you will always be rewarded with a huge quantity of bolts. Additionally, some of them will give you access to new weapons without you having to purchase them.
Try to unlock new weapons whenever you have an opportunity to do so
(when the weapon is available for purchase). Thanks to that your repertoire will expand, allowing you to adapt to any situation without problems.
Each weapon is more effective against certain types of enemies
Combustor is a good choice against enemies that are far away, Pyrocitor will make a short work of a large group of weaker enemies, whereas the Proton Drum can be thrown in the middle of the battlefield where it will damage enemies on its own, allowing you to do something else.
Use each weapon regularly
Thanks to that your armaments will level up, unlocking additional upgrades (as well as unique characteristics). Additionally, leveling up your weapons increases their damage outputs, and getting to the 5th level gives the weapon a special, unique ability.
Level up your weapon to second level
Try to level up each of your weapons to at least second level. It's crucial during the beginning of the game, as achieving it is trivial (you just have to use your weapon several times). Doing so will unlock a unique characteristic of the weapon (a yellow question mark), which can be then unlocked by upgrading your weapon at a store. Increased damage, which is a huge bonus, is a nice addition.
Use dodges during combat
Don't stand in one place or the enemies will have an easy time dealing damage to you - a few attacks, especially at the beginning of the game, is more than enough to kill Ratchet.
Replenish your ammo and health regularly
You can do so while exploring the world, by destroying the appropriate boxes, as well as in the store. As far as the latter goes, you just have to enter the store and spend several hundreds of bolts.
Remember that you can quickly swap between your last used weapons
You just have to press the "Triangle" button twice, which will change your equipped weapon between the two last used.
