Ratchet & Clank: Planet Gaspar - Walkthrough Ratchet & Clank Guide
Last update: 16 April 2022
On this page of the guide to Ratchet & Clank, you will find a description of the tasks on the seventh planet - Gaspar. The planet Gaspar is quite specific - it consists of dozens of tiny isles, surrounded by lava. Here you will get a new gadget - a jetpack that will allow you to move efficiently on the planet. In addition, you will have to get Grindboots, required to move on special rails.
This planet is quite peculiar - the area is divided into several dozens of tiny islands, divided by lakes of lava. Here you can acquire a new gadget - a Jetpack - which will allow you to move freely around this planet. Additionally, there will be one more gadget to pick up here - Grindboots, used to slide along special rails. Below you can find a detailed walkthrough of the location.
Items to unlock:
Jetpack - a gadget acquired for completing one of the missions
Grindboots - a gadget collected during the exploration of the planet
Plasma Striker - a weapon for purchase for 21,000 bolts
Objectives:
- Fight the Blarg
- Find the Jetpack
- Trade 10 brains for a Jetpack
- Trade 20 brains for an infobot
- Trade brains for bolts
Fight the Blarg
When you regain control over your character head to the nearby store - if you have a spare 21,000 bolts you can purchase a new weapon, Plasma Striker. This sniper rifle allows you to attack enemies from vast distances. It's capable of dealing immense damage (especially if you can invest some Raritarium crystals to upgrade it), but it's not a very useful weapon in general - enemies come in huge packs, they are running and jumping around, making it difficult to hit with this gun. You can use it, but you should use Raritarium to upgrade a different weapon.
Leave the store and ignore the rail on the right side, as well as the green tank on the left side - you must first acquire appropriate gadgets to make use of them. Head to the platform located behind the store and use it to get to the lower ground. A large group of enemies will rush your position. Eliminate them and then get rid of the enemy mounting a turret (Proton Drum will be perfect for the job).
After you've cleared the area, mount the turret and direct its fire at the round gate located nearby. After a short barrage the gate will be destroyed, and a group of enemies will run through the new passage. You can take them out with the turret, but you will be better using your own guns - this way you will acquire experience points for the weapon you're using, which would be lost while using the turret.
Go through the newly opened passage and head along the pathway, eliminating the enemies on your way. You will arrive at a second gate. To get past it you must destroy it with a turret, just like you did a second ago. Continue along the pathway and use the platforms to get to the mentioned turret. Mount it and use it to destroy the gate.
A group of heavily-armored robots equipped with jetpacks will appear on the battlefield. You should eliminate them with your own guns, as they will give you and your weapons a lot of experience points. However, if you have problems with those foes, use the turret to get rid of them. Afterwards, go through the destroyed gate and use the elevator to reach the upper floor.
A group of weak enemies will await you here. You should eliminate them with the Pyrocitor, especially if you've invested in the upgrades increasing the chances of enemies dropping Raritarium. This way you will be able to acquire a few of those precious crystals here. Get rid of the enemies and enter the passageway they came out of. Clear the long, narrow tunnel and get to its other side, where another gate awaits.
Note - this is a perfect bolt, Raritarium and holocard farming spot. Eliminate most of the enemies while leaving some of them alive. Afterwards, let those remaining enemies defeat you. You will respawn at the elevator, just before the encounter with the large group of mechanical beasts. Your health and ammo will be restored, while any resources you've collected will still be there, they won't reset. This way you can acquire a huge amount of bolts, Raritarium crystals and holocards in a very short amount of time.
Blast through the gate and eliminate the group of enemies approaching your position. After getting outside you will encounter a group of flying robots and a Blarg dropship. You can either use one of the turrets in the area to eliminate them, or (what is recommended) use your own weapons to deal with them. You just have to jump and remain in motion and the enemies won't be able to touch you.
After you're done, approach the orange force field. Inside of it there's one of the two gadgets you acquire on this planet - Grindboots. To get them, you must stand on all three red buttons located around the barrier. You can do that in any order, but you will have about 10 seconds to do so. If you fail, the buttons will reset and you will have to repeat the whole process. Take out the barrier and collect the new gadget.
Find the Jetpack
Approach and jump onto the rail located near one of the three buttons you've just pressed. With the Grindboots you've acquired Ratchet will be able to grind along the rails like this one. After a short while you will arrive near the ship. Use this opportunity and replenish your resources at it.
Leave the store and jump on the rail located right next to it. After a short while a second rail will appear - follow the tips shown on the screen and jump on the second rail on the right side. There will be a broken part of the rail which you must jump above and reach the other side, as well as a number of mines that you must destroy with your Omniwrench attacks (you can also jump above them if you want to).
After the ride ends, run upstairs and eliminate the enemies located there. Afterwards, get to the other side of the river of lava using the bridge. Destroy all nearby boxes and jump above another stream of lava. Approach the shady looking scientist standing near the building to start a conversation and receive your next objective.
Trade 10 brains for a Jetpack
Your task is to acquire 10 brains of the nearby monsters. You can gather them from the red, egg-like objects - you just have to destroy them and collect the brain that they drop. The first one is located right next to the place at which you've spoken with the mad scientist. Collect it and head along the pathway.
Clear the area and pick 4 more brains (you should have 5 now). Afterwards, get rid of the large force field blocking the passage - there will be three buttons located near the force field that you must press in a short period of time (just like you did with the Grindboots). The buttons are easy to locate as they are connected to each other with thick cables.
Go to the newly opened section of the area. Head straight ahead, eliminating the enemies and collecting the brains. Ignore the platform on the right side (you will get there soon) and head along the path until you acquire 10 brains. Collect all the bolts scattered around the area and get back to the mad scientist. He will give you a new gadget and you will get a new objective.
Trade 20 brains for an infobot
For completing the previous objective you will be given a Jetpack. This gadget will allow you to fly around this planet, provided that you have sufficient fuel. That can be refilled at special places - green fuel tanks which you've already seen during your visit on this planet. The scientist will also give you a new objective - to collect 20 brains. Completing it will reward you with an infobot.
Refill the fuel for your Jetpack to be able to use it. To collect the brains you must head to any of the unexplored islands on this planet - you can distinguish them by their "darker", greyer color on the map. The exploration should begin from the place you've spoken with the scientist at - or to be more specific, from the route located behind the fuel tank you used to refill fuel for the Jetpack. This way you will be able to visit the islands without having to go back and forth.
Each Island holds a varying amount of brains (from one to several of them), and the order you visit them in is irrelevant. From this moment on you will also be able to fight with giant flying monsters, which serve the purpose of mini-bosses of this planet. Killing them will give you 3 brains. Some of them will be trapped behind a force field - to get to them you will have to take it out by pressing three red buttons like you did before. After you've collected 20 brains, get back to the scientist to receive your reward and get another, as well as the last objective on this planet.
Trade brains for bolts
You must now collect 60 additional brains. You have to collect all the brains located on this planet, as there's the exact number of them. Collecting each one of them will reward you with a large sum of bolts, and collecting all of them will give you a new gadget - an upgrade to the Omniwrech called the Box Breaker. It upgrades your Omniwrech, allowing you to destroy boxes from a greater distance (while using the jump attack), as well as to collect bolts from further distances as well.
Most of the brains can be found on the surface of the planet - you just have to visit every single island shown on the map and look around the area. However, there's a single one unique place, which cannot be found on the map.
It's a cave to which entrance can be found in the northern part of the planet - as shown on the pair of screenshots above. To unlock it, you must use the mechanism located right next to the hole. It will choke out the flames coming from it, allowing you to enter the secret area. Jump into it to reach a hidden cave.
You must now reach the other side of the cave by going through narrow tunnels, while collecting brains along the way. From the place you've landed at you will be able to see 3 of them - they will be hanging on the walls of the cave. Shoot at them with any of your weapons and collect them. In the further part of the cave there's a place with 1 additional brain. Collect it and continue your journey.
You will reach the end of the cave with a large group of enemies and two more brains. This will give you a total of 6 brains in this single cave. Defeat the enemies, collect all the bolts and brains, refill your fuel at the station and jump on the three platforms located above. There's a red button on each one of them - pressing them all will get rid of the barrier, allowing you to fly outside.
A flying monster will await you at the surface. Get rid of it and collect 3 brains it drops. There will be a Raritarium deposit, as well as a huge amount of boxes located near the exit of the cave.
Regardless of whether you've done this quest or not (as it's an optional one), head to the ship and select Batalia as your destination.
