Ratchet & Clank: Planet Rilgar - Walkthrough Ratchet & Clank Guide
Last update: 16 April 2022
On this page of the guide to Ratchet & Clank, you will find a description of the tasks on the fifth planet - Rilgar. You will get two new weapons, and Pixelizer is one of the best in the game. You will also receive a new gadget, Trespasser, which is used for special puzzles in the game.
Rilgar, the fifth planet you visit is a place in which you can take part in the Hoverboard racing event. You will be able to purchase two new weapons here as well, from which the Pixelizer is one of the most powerful firearms in the game. You will acquire a new gadget here as well, a one called the Trespasser, used to solve special puzzles in the game. To gain access to this planet you must first visit and complete all the objectives on Aridia. Below you can find a detailed walkthrough of the location.
Items to unlock:
Groovitron - a weapon for purchase in the store. It costs 15,000 bolts.
Pixeliser - a weapon for purchase in the store. It costs 15,000 bolts.
Trespasser - a gadget given to you by one of the characters.
Objectives:
- Travel to the hoverboard event
- Win the hoverboard race
- Search the sewers
- Escape the sewers
- Collect all RYNO holocards
Travel to the hoverboard event
Your first task will be to reach the hoverboard racing area. After landing on the planet head to the nearby store, where two new weapons are available for purchase. Pixeliser deals extremely high damage to enemies (and turns them into their pixelated versions), while Groovitron forces everyone in the area to dance - it work on every foe, even on bosses. Those weapon are quite expensive, but don't worry if you can't afford them - during your stay on this planet you will earn a lot of bolts.
Head straight ahead from the store towards the city. After activating the button an entrance will open, with a new type of enemy inside. Those foes shoot balls of poison, but they are extremely easy to dodge, as the projectiles travel speed is slow. If you want to avoid taking damage from them, you just have to jump to the sides and generally remain in motion. Get rid of them, leave the building, jump through a number of platforms and reach another construction.
Two groups of enemies will be fighting here. You can wait for them to eliminate each other, or join the fight. Afterwards, leave the room and step on a green button to activate a ledge. Eliminate the enemies, collect bolts and use the elevator to get to the upper floor. You will reach a mini-arena here, where two groups of enemies will fight against each other again. Attack them from a safe distance. Collect the bolts and head to the room on the right side.
Use the harpoon to get to the elevation. Turn around - there will be a place with the store in front of you, which can be accessed by using the harpoon again. Do so, enter the store, replenish your ammo and health, and upgrade your weapons. If you have enough bolts, purchase a new weapon.
Don't jump to the street just yet, instead wait for the enemies to start fighting. A great method to quickly get rid of them is to use a Groovitron (so that they won't be able to move) in conjunction with a Proton Drum (which will damage every enemy in the area). After a few seconds most of the enemies will be gone. Jump down and finish off the remaining foes, after which a new type of enemy will appear on the scene.
The encounter with the tank is trivial, as you just have to avoid its attacks by jumping to die sides. The enemy, however, is quite durable - the best tool to use against it are the grenades, which deal the most damage out of your current weapons. Eliminate the enemy and collect the bolts scattered around the area.
Head to the tunnel (ignore the force field blocking the passage) and hit the button on the wall. New attachment points will appear above the street. Use the harpoon to get to the roof of the building, where a Raritarium deposit is located. Collect the crystal and destroy the nearby boxes, head towards the mentioned force field and press the button.
Eliminate the enemies that come through the elevator and use it to get to the lower floor. Head along the tunnel until you reach a small arena. There's a button located on the other side of the area - pressing it will release a group of monsters who will attack nearby enemies. Join the fight and shoot at foes from a safe elevation.
Jump down and get rid of the remaining enemies, while collecting a decent sum of bolts. Enter one of the tunnels (as the rest is blocked) and use the elevator to get to the upper floor. This section is quite peculiar, as the whole area is blocked by force fields. You can take them down one by one by pressing the buttons on the ground. Do so and eliminate the enemies you set free - rinse and repeat until you reach the end of the room.
Eliminate the pair of tanks and the infantry of the enemy - use the pillars for cover. Collect all the bolts and destroy the boxes in the area. Before you continue your journey, however, stand at the end of the arena (where a number of boxes containing healing can be found) and direct camera towards the lit pillar (as shown on the above screenshot). Climb it up.
Jump on top of the pillars that contained the force field a second ago. Turn left and head to the end of the wall, where you must turn to the right. Get to the end as well and jump to the area below it, divided by another force field. There's a Gold Bolt here. Collect all of the items, eliminate enemies and head straight ahead to the next area.
Destroy the boxes, collect healing and bolts and use the elevator to get to the upper floor. You will reach a plateau with a person in the middle of it. By talking to the woman you can take part in the hoverboard racing event on Rilgar. There are free difficult levels here: Bronze, Silver and Gold, each one of those associated with a side quest on this planet. Start the bronze event now - the higher levels unlock one by one by finishing the rank below it.
Win the hoverboard race
Your goal is to win the bronze level hoverboard race. Before the race begins, pay attention to the information about the controls shown on the screen. To move you must hold the R2 button at all times. L2 is used to fire a short-lasting boost, but only when at least one BOOST bar (visible on the left side of the screen) is filled. Those can be filled mainly by jumping through blue rings on the track. Jumping (by pressing X) is mainly used during Silver and Gold ranks, where the track is filled with explosive boxes.
During this race you will be able to collect another Gold Bolt. To do so, you must get to the elevation located behind the second corner of the race - use the boosts located on tracks (blue arrows on the ground) to reach it. From here you must jump to the neighboring track (jumping through a blue ring). The Gold Bolt is located at the end of this elevated track.
Use as many boost as you can (both your own ones, as well as those scattered on the track) and finishing on the first position should be a breeze. Silver and Gold ranks differ only in the fact, that the track is filled with explosive (red) boxes, which slow you down when you run into them.
By finishing the Silver and Gold ranks of the hoverboard race you will be given a huge amount of bolts - well over 10,000. Additionally, finishing the Gold rank will reward you with one of the RYNO holocards, required to unlock a secret weapon. More on that can be found in the "RYNO holocards" section of this guide.
Search the sewers
After finishing the race, clear the area off the boxes and head to the "taxi", which will lead you to your ship. Replenish your supplies in the store - if you've finished Silver and Gold rank you should have enough bolts to purchase everything on this planet. Afterwards, head to the left of the store, get to the other side with the harpoon and enter the sewers.
Use the Hydrodisplacer to get rid of the water (as well as sharks in it) and go to the other side. Use the gadget again to pump the water into the next reservoir. Head straight ahead to the tunnel. Clear the passageway with the Omniwrech.
Pump out the water to get rid of the sharks. Jump down, kill them and then get back to pump the water back into the reservoir. Dive into the water and swim to the next room. Jump to the surface, eliminate the enemy, destroy the box and continue your journey by sliding down a tunnel to the bottom of the sewers.
Escape the sewers
Prepare yourself, as you have to move fast now. After you step on the green button on the ground, the sewers will start filling with water - you must travel straight ahead as quickly as possible. Jump onto one of the platforms, jump to the other one and get to the elevation. Ignore the enemies and stick to the wall on the left side, where the stairs are located. Climb them up.
One of the Gold Bolts can be found below you, but you won't be able to get it now, as you need a gadget from the Pokitaru planet. Head straight ahead and ignore the enemies. When your each a narrowing, dive underwater and swim to the other side. Emerge from the water and run forward. Jump back into the water and dive into a small tunnel.
You will end up in a room where the water won't be rising anymore. Destroy the boxes in the area (and those underwater), and then head towards the neighboring room, where an elevator leading to the street can be found.
Collect all RYNO holocards
When you reach the street a cut-scene will initiate, during which you will be given a new gadget - Trespasser. It's used to solver special puzzles - the first one is located directly in front of you, next to a red force field. To get through it, you must solve a trivial Trespasser Puzzle by aligning the lasers in such a way, that they turn green. Thanks to that the barrier will be gone and you will be able to continue.
Note - Trespasser Puzzles will be described in a separate chapter.
Note - RYNO Holocards can be found on other planets, not only on this one, but you will be given the reward from collecting them all from the same person that gave you the Trespasser gadget.
Now you can get back to the ship and travel to Nebula G34.
