Guardian | Classes Guild Wars 2 Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
There is no MMO without a paladin. In the Guild Wars 2 his role is played by the guardian. Heavy armored, perfectly armed hero who can fight solo or support group attacks. His characteristic feature is using the virtues :
- Virtue of Justice - fire damage. When it's not active, every fifth attack will burn an enemy. Activation causes that the next attack, yours or your allies', will incarnate an opponent.
- Virtue of Resolve - provides small life regeneration. Activation heals the guardian and nearby allies. It makes him a real tank.
- Virtue of Courage - allows to block one attack every forty seconds. Activation blocks the coming attack. The best usage time is a moment before the enemy champion uses his most powerful blow.
Guardian can use many weapons, from which the majority stands for the area damage while the offhand is for blocking and canceling the negative effects. Those skills are improved by:
Group | Effect |
Consecrations | Blesses the earth and grants enemies on this area with various bonuses. |
Meditations | Teleportations and canceling the negative effects. |
Spirit weapons | Summons an enchanted weapon. |
Symbols | Symbols on the ground which support you and allies. |
Tomes | Summons an ancient tome which provides news skills. |
Wards | Creates unbeatable barrier. |
During the PvE a guardian shouldn't have bigger problems. He is very tough and in case of problems, he can use virtues and defensive skills to restore himself. He is a perfect hero for the beginners who'd like to learn the game. What is more, the more people he has in his group, the more powerful he becomes, because some of his skills affect all allies.
In PvP and WvW he can play in two ways: damage dealing or support. Usually, the more companions you have, the more you should focus on supporting. Defeating an enemy is good, but saving ten allies is better.
