The players take on the role of prisoners sent to the planet of Auriga to atone for their crimes. Developed by an independent studio called Exor, X-Morph: Defense is an original twin-stick shooter with tower defense elements. The game shows an unpleasant vision of the future, in which the Earth has fallen victim to an alien invasion. Instead of defending the Blue Planet, the player assumes control over an Alien ship with an objective to face waves of human adversaries and defend enormous devices extracting resources and altering the Earth’s atmosphere. In X-Morph: Defense, the player observes the action from the top-down perspective, controls the aforementioned spacecraft, and erects defensive structures such as watchtowers - highly effective against particular adversaries. During the combat, the alien ship can assume four different forms, each one designed for dealing with a specific type of threats. To fight the enemies, the player can use the destroyable environment by e.g. collapsing a skyscraper to bar the way. The player can invade the Earth either alone or with another player in the cooperative mode.

A warfare-oriented strategy created by Blowfish Studios, notable for the warmly-received Gunscape. Siegecraft Commander takes us to a fantasy universe, fought iver by Knights of Freemoi and tribes of Lizardmen. The game offers a single player campaign, allowing the player to control both factions. In this case, the game is similar to a traditional real-time strategy. For a change, the multiplayer mode allows us to choose between real-time gameplay and a turn-based one. The battles were inspired by tower defense genre, with the players conquering more and more territory until they clash. There is a catch, though – each tower has to have a direct link to the center, and if the chain is broken, every subsequent link is destroyed. In order to win, every player has to build complicated installations, able to sustain heavy losses and remain functional. Siegecraft Commander employs a light-hearted, slightly cartoonish visual style.

The game provides a continuation to one of the most popular mobile tower defense strategies, which was created by Ironhide. Kingdom Rush Frontiers is based on the gameplay formula of its predecessor. The player's task here is to defend the kingdom against various fantasy creatures. In order to do that, the player builds different defensive structures on their path, sends military units to fight them, but also uses many different spells. In the story campaign, the player has to make their way through treacherous deserts and forests in order to reach the mountains, where the final boss fight begins. The creators added an entire set of hero characters, improvements and units, such as assassins, templars, necromancers or machines capable of causing earthquakes. Each of the characters has their own unique abilities, which can be developed in different ways, thus various play-styles are applicable. Following the pattern of the original game, Kingdom Rush Frontiers offers cartoonish visuals. Additionally, the game is filled with light humor and references made to pop-culture.

A game developed by an indie studio, GUTS Department, that combines elements of metroidvania and tower defense. The game is set in a fantasy world where the only things left by a technologically advanced civilizations are ruins and powerful artifacts. The main characters, a mechanic called Bart and his granddaughter Clu, declare a war on the Empire – in order to end its hegemony they embark on a journey to find a legendary weapon called the Aegis. During this adventure full of dangers they have to not only visit various locations and avoid countless traps but also solve puzzles (which often require their cooperation – we can switch between the characters freely) and fight with enemies. Sometimes, they have to defend places, characters and objects from incoming waves of enemies – your success in those battles depends on using Bart's abilities that allow him to construct useful items, and making a good use of Clu's skills both in combat and placing traps. During the game we get new equipment and upgrade the already owned one. This allows us to reach previously unavailable places and eliminate increasingly bigger and more dangerous enemies. Aegis Defenders can be played alone or with another player. The developers were inspired by the first few installments in The Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy series, which is reflected by the game's pixel-art graphics.
