A 2D platform game by Japanese studio Nippon Ichi Software. The game's protagonist wakes up in a mysterious castle devoid of colors, and discovers that an unknown force froze the flow of time. She can, however, reverse those effects by using a thorn that has grown on her back. Fortunately, the protagonist is not alone — she is accompanied by a friendly giant, who is helping her escape the enormous fortress by lifting and throwing heavy objects.

Specter of Torment is a free DLC for the fan-favorite platform game Shovel Knight, developed by Yacht Club Games. This time, we play as a new protagonist, the titular Specter. The expansion takes place before the events of the base game. In terms of gameplay, Specter of Torment is identical to the base game, combining the elements of a 2D platformer, an RPG, and an action-adventure game. Once again, we observe the game from a side perspective.

A continuation of a well-received 2015 mobile endless runner Alto's Adventure, developed by Snowman. Like its predecessor, Alto's Odyssey does not feature a story as such - in the game, the player assumes the role of a snowboarder who has to overcome the obstacles, jump over chasms, run from the enemies, catch runaway animals, and perform various snowboard tricks, for which he is awarded points.

The non-linear plot leads to one of eleven endings, depending on the player’s in-game choices.

Princess Maker Refine was created by Japanese studio Gainax, supervised by one of its co-founders, Takami Akai. You play as a hero, who already defeated the dark lord and saved the citizens of the kingdom invaded by the villain. The protagonist decided to settle down and adopt an orphaned girl, so that he can not only help with rebuilding the country, but also take care of her future.

A turn-based RPG created by Dead Mage Studio. Tale of Ronin features a story set in Japan’s feudal period. As the title suggests, player assumes the role of a ronin, i.e. a masterless samurai, who gets a chance to improve his lot. To make that happen, however, he must embark on a dangerous journey and experience both good and bad sides of the turbulent period of history, such as friendship, betrayal, war and honor.

The protagonist, who is notoriously late to work, is given an ultimatum: if he's late one more time, he's fired. When the main character had once again overslept after a party night, the only way for him to avoid the consequences is to sneak into his workplace without anyone noticing.

Pinstripe focuses on two important topics: faith and fatherhood. The player assumes the role of a former pastor, named Teddy, whose daughter was kidnapped by a mysterious creature which calls itself God. The player starts chasing the creature and soon reaches the hell – surprisingly covered with ice.

Unfortunately, granny has fallen ill. The only medicine able to help her is the edelweiss flower, which grows high in the mountains. The protagonist embarks on a journey to find this rare plant.

The action of Shakedown Hawaii takes place 30 years after the events presented in its predecessor. The protagonist has grown really old and got himself a large belly. A side-scrolling jRPG with strong elements of classic beat'em up. Fallen Legion was developed by an American studio YummyYummyTummy. The game came out for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita; the two versions differ mainly in terms of story. Fallen Legion is set in a fantasy world and the player is taken to the Kingdom of Fenumia, which falls from glory due to the king's premature death.
Zodiac: Orcanon Odyssey

A tactical jRPG with a turn-based combat system. It was developed by the French studio Kobojo in cooperation with Kazushige Nojima and Hitoshi Sakamoto who previously worked on several installments of the Final Fantasy series. The story of Zodiac: Orcanon Odyssey takes place in a fantasy world divided into four regions inhabited by various races. The player becomes a young warrior named Cael who leads a patrol that neutralizes threats from potential enemies.
