RAZED

The AND and iOS release of Alto's Odyssey is an arcade game representing the endless runner genre. The game has been developed by Snowman – the same team that has been responsible for creating the first installment in the series entitled Alto's Adventure. The Looks Like Lemonade company has taken upon their shoulders the task of publishing of the game.

Mechanics

The developers did not bother to implement any story mode into the game - instead, the AND and iOS release of Alto's Odyssey focuses strictly on the gameplay – it is an arcade game, in which a player assumes the role of a snowboarder speeding through an endless desert filled with dunes, ancient cities, and many new threats.

The maps are in 2D, and the main protagonist automatically moves rightwards. A player is tasked with issuing simple commands allowing the character to overcome the obstacles, jump over chasms, as well as perform numerous snowboard tricks awarded with points. During the game, one also has to catch runaway animals, collect coins, and escape the encountered enemies.

Alto's Odyssey falls under the endless runner game genre. This means that the track never ends and is procedurally generated. Practically speaking, a player cannot 'win' the game – eventually, he is bound to make one mistake too much and finish the ride. The game builds on attempting to cover the longest distance possible and beat the scores achieved by a player himself or by others.

Technical aspects

The AND and iOS release of Alto's Odyssey continues the tradition started by its predecessor and delivers visuals that are pleasing to one's eye. The developers decided to go with minimalistic graphics and pastel color palette, which combined with smooth animations make the game a pleasing experience.
