A 2D platform game by Japanese studio Nippon Ichi Software. The game's protagonist wakes up in a mysterious castle devoid of colors, and discovers that an unknown force froze the flow of time. She can, however, reverse those effects by using a thorn that has grown on her back. Fortunately, the protagonist is not alone — she is accompanied by a friendly giant, who is helping her escape the enormous fortress by lifting and throwing heavy objects.

Plot

The game tells a story of a girl, who one day wakes up in a mysterious castle, in which something sucked out all the color and froze the flow of time. It doesn't take long for the protagonist to discover that she can reverse those effects thanks to a cursed thorn that has grown on her back. As her journey begins, she meets a friendly giant and they both try to escape the fortress.

Mechanics

A Rose in the Twilight for PC and PSV is a 2D platform game with pronounced logic puzzle elements. The gameplay consists mostly of exploring the 2D maps and avoiding traps. However, the puzzles are also an important aspect. From time to time, you stumble upon a puddle of blood, which the protagonist can absorb and then spread onto the nearby objects. This makes them regain their colors and frees them from the time lock, as well as allows them to be used.

The girl's blood-related powers also allow her to gain various special abilities, such as long-distance jumping. The friendly giant is an important character as well. Thanks to his extraordinary strength, he can lift and throw heavy objects. Which helps you solve puzzles and avoid obstacles.

The game is very difficult. You die very often, but every with every death you gain tips, thanks to which you can avoid making the same mistakes in the future.

Technical aspects

A Rose ion the Twilight for PC and PSV features interesting visuals. Most of what you see is muted-gold or gray, in contrast to intensely red blood-filled elements.
