As the title suggests, player assumes the role of a ronin, i.e. a masterless samurai, who gets a chance to improve his lot. To make that happen, however, he must embark on a dangerous journey and experience both good and bad sides of the turbulent period of history, such as friendship, betrayal, war and honor.

Tale of Ronin Description
Tale of Ronin is a turn-based RPG set in Japan, created by independent studio Dead Mage. The title was designed with PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles in mind.
Plot
Tale of Ronin for PC, PS4 and XONE features a story set in Japan’s feudal period. The player assumes the role of a ronin, i.e. a masterless samurai, exiled from the society. The hero gets a chance to improve his lot. During his journey he gets to experience both good and bad sides of the turbulent period of history, such as friendship, betrayal, war and, most importantly, honor. The game’s developers looked to Akira Kurosawa’s films for inspiration as well as to anime adaptation of the Shigurui (Death Frenzy) manga. In order to accurately recreate the time period they also studied historical documents. Besides, the game contains elements from the Japanese mythology.
Mechanics
As for gameplay, Tale of Ronin for PC, PS4 and XONE is a turn-based RPG similar to The Banner Saga series. The protagonist starts his journey as a lone traveler, but in time he may be joined by two other companions. Together they visit various locations and face difficult situations, which force them to make tough decisions. At the heart of the game lies combat. The developers took care to faithfully reimagine fighting with the katana sword, which is brutal, but not too showy. An important element of gameplay is the so-called Sekai System, which is a variation on permadeath mechanics. If the protagonist gets killed in battle or commits seppuku to reclaim lost honor, the player becomes another ronin. In such case, however, you don’t have to start completely from scratch. Instead, you visit a world shaped by the actions of your previous hero.
Technical aspects
When it comes to graphics, Dead Mage Studio decided to move away from the stylistcs used in their previous works. Instead of pixel art, used e.g. in Children of Morta, the developers prepared visuals resembling traditional Japanese art. Thanks to this, Tale of Ronin for PC, PS4 and XONE features unique atmosphere, also enhanced by matching soundtrack.
