Upgrading weapons | Tips Guide The Evil Within 2
Last update: 10 January 2018
Upgrading your weapons is as important as developing the main hero. You can increase clip capacity and weapon damage. The latter is especially useful, as you will need all the firepower you can get to survive numerous boss encounters.
You will need Weapon Parts to upgrade your weapons. You can find them in many different places - in crates, on shelves (often in hideouts), or even in the form of loot, dropped by defeated enemies. Although you collect a lot of Parts, higher upgrades often cost a small fortune. Once you have enough Weapon Parts, find a workbench. The easiest way to do that, is to use a mirror and go back to the police department, where Sebastian used to work. The workbench is located in one of the corridors. Now select a weapon that you want to modify, choose an upgrade and purchase it.
Tips on how to upgrade your weapons
Due to high upgrade costs, it's best to plan all your upgrades and focus on several items. If you are not sure how to spend your Weapon Parts, stick to the following rules:
- You should definitely upgrade your handgun. One could think that the handgun becomes less important as the game progresses. However, this would be a hasty generalization! Thanks to the available upgrades (especially ones that increase the probability of inflicting critical damage), the handgun remains useful throughout the entire gameplay.
- You should unlock the Critical upgrade for all the weapons that use this modification. This upgrade works differently than in most RPG games - instead of dealing double damage, you can execute your opponent instantly. It's especially useful when using the handgun.
- Don't spend too many Weapon Parts on your sniper rifle - this weapon only comes in handy in open spaces, and is pretty much useless in corridors and small rooms, which you come across more often.
- Forget about upgrades related to reload speed, and spend your Weapon Parts on other upgrades.
