Last update: 24 September 2021
From this guide page to EVE Online you will learn what is a Security System and how it works in the world of the New Eden.
New Eden in EVE Online consists of several thousands of solar systems - none of them is completely safe. If you are new to EVE Online, you should learn how the three main Security Systems work.
- Security Level 0.5 - 1.0 (High Security)
- Security Level 0.4 - 0.1 (Low Security)
- Security Level 0.0 - -1.0 (Null Security)
Security Level 0.5 - 1.0 (High Security)
Systems with security ranging from 0.5 to 1.0 have a High Security Level. Any aggressive actions against other players taken in this area will alert the elite CONCORD security troops, who will quickly appear on the scene to eliminate the aggressors.
The response time of CONCORD units ranges from 1 second (Security Level 1.0) to about 19 seconds (Security Level 0.5).
Security Level 0.4 - 0.1 (Low Security)
Systems with a Security Level ranging between 0.4 and 0.1 are more dangerous. You will meet here much stronger NPCs (Pirates). Also, PvP battles between players are allowed here - CONCORD troops won't appear here. However, it should be noted that all nearby guard turrets (on Stargates, Stations) will still shoot at aggressive players.
Aggressive actions in this security area reduce the Security Level.
Security Level 0.0 - -1.0 (Null Security)
Systems with a Security Level of 0.0 to -1.0 are absent of any law, which means that no NPC unit or organization, including the CONCORD troops, will respond to aggressive player behavior. Also, none of the actions will result in loss of Security Level.
