A bunch of great RPGs have failed. Even the brilliant Pillars of Eternity 2 didn't sell as well as expected, but the genre hasn't said the last word yet. Somewhere behind the horizon there is a potential savior – Baldur's Gate 3 developed by Larian Studios. However, there are at least four classic champions coming in 2020. You've already met two of them. One is still ahead of us, and now it's time for Realms Beyond: Ashes of the Fallen.
At first sight this game looks like a bit gray and old-school title. A classic, isometric fantasy game with a slightly monotonous color palette. But when you check the trailers and more screenshots, you will notice an insane amount of details and trinkets decorating the surroundings. The engine will be capable of generating huge spaces. Open locations will be divided and separated by loading screens just like in Baldur's Gate series or Planescape Torment. But the attractions won't end there.
Players will get a huge, open fantasy world with names that are hard to pronounce, but also a rich cultural background. Game designers have promised to give us a complex story and intriguing characters. Turn-based combat will be engaging – during every battle heroes will sneak through a noble, hexagonal grid. Armed with difficult moral choices, the campaign will provide entertainment for many hours. As if that wasn't enough, the authors will put a game editor at our disposal. You can use it to create your own scenarios and adventures. This unknown RPG title may become a real charming gem among more popular titles.
