Double Universe. A list of most-wanted upcoming MMORPGs

Table of Contents

  1. How long we've been waiting: 3 years
  2. When it's coming: 2020
  3. Distinguishing features: one big server-universe, emphasis on development and research, no NPCs, complete freedom

Dual Universe is an ambitious sandbox MMORPG project in a SF world that has a better chance of being realized than Star Citizen. The foundations of both games may seem close, but this production is certainly closer to EVE Online. One big server will house the entire community of the game, and be a fully functional universe. What we will do in it, what role we will play – is entirely up to us.

Nothing will be imposed on the player. Instead, we ourselves will determine what we want to do in Double Universe. Conquest of planets, their colonization and holding power over the world? Maybe just travel and exploration? Perhaps crafting and trading? The only obstacle will be other players, able to thwart our plans. However, we will not receive any valuable rewards or experience points for killing them or other creatures.

Dual Universe is, first of all, a social game. We can advance through development, research and construction. However, the developers describe their project as an MMO focused on the creation of a civilization. This is why the shape and condition of the game world will largely be determined by players. So it may turn out that none of the planets is a hospitable place.
