General information about the Ducal Palace

The above map presents the Ducal Palace, where you will be automatically taken after exploring the Korlasz Family Tomb, which ends with capturing, or killing the sorceress called Korlasz (M1 map). Soon after you arrive at the palace, a group of assassins will appear, although you should have no problems dealing with them. During your stay at the palace, you can meet various friendly characters residing in the building. If you've arrested Korlasz, an additional cut-scene will await you in the basement of the palace. After you're done with your business at the palace and going to the courtyard, you will finally be able to select your next destination - there will be a number of large areas of the city to select from.

Note - Don't worry about the fact that the rest of your party "disappeared", as you will be able to get to them (as well as to those characters that weren't with you during your exploration of the tomb) and recruit them, as part of the Recruitment Drive side quest.

Note - Don't forget to collect at least the most valuable treasures found in the tomb. Those can be found in a chest, located at the starting location, in the chambers of the main character. As far as the gold goes, if you want to reclaim it, go to the treasury located in the basement of the palace (as part of the My Missed Fortune side quest).

Most important places in the Ducal Palace

1. Main character's chamber

You will be automatically taken to this place after coming back from the tomb, in which you've located and defeated Korlasz. Initially, you will have a conversation with Imoen here - the woman will later be heavily wounded (fortunately not killed) by the assassins. There's a chest locater here, with all the treasures acquired during your exploration of the Korlasz Family Tomb. You can either take all of the items from the container (provided that you have enough inventory space), or only those that you are planning to use (like the best potions, for instance).

2. Imoen's chamber

After approaching this chamber for the first time, a group of assassins will appear, and you will be forced to eliminate them. Additionally, there's a chest containing all Imoen's belongings here - you can take all of the items from it, without worrying that you will be accused of stealing them.

7. Main Hall

This is the place in which the main character will have a long conversation with all of the most important characters residing in the palace. Those are Captain Shael Corwin, Liia Jannath, Duke Eltan, Entar Silvershield, and Belt. After you've listed to the conversation, you can head to the building's exit (M1,8), where the lady captain will await you, or you can meet with Skie, to unlock one of the side quests.

11. Korlasz's Cell

If you've arrested Korlasz at the end of your journey through the Korlasz Family Tomb (M1 map), she will be held right in this very room. What is more, she will manage to set herself free, and you will be forced to fight with her again. Fortunately, the Flaming Fist guards located in the basement will come to your aid.

12. Treasury

This place can be visited mainly for the purpose of reclaiming the gold you've accumulated so far, but the treasurer Ophyllis will tell you that he lost it. Because of that, it will be necessary to start the side quest called My Missed Fortune (the description of this quest can be found on the following pages of this guide).

There is a chest with the remaining gold in the vault. You can get to it if you have a thief in your party - he must open the door, disarm the trap and then open the chest.

15. Courtyard

There are two characters associated with quests located at the courtyard - Ophyllis (the further part of the My Missed Fortune side quest), and Garachen (a short side quest called Refuge for the Refugees, concerning the unfair treatment of refugees). You can leave the place by approaching any edge of the screen, and selecting on the available areas of the city from the world map.

Once you reach the Journey to the north main quest, a farewell of the expedition members will take place on the courtyard. This will trigger few new characters to appear. The most important ones are: Belegarm (merchant - he sells various items and he identifies items), Rayphus (he takes care of inactive companions) and Viconia (elven cleric, you can invite her to party).

Note - You don't have to visit the subsequent areas in the same order as presented in our guide. You should visit each one of them at least once, to unlock / finish a quest, meet with the merchants and the potential party members, or push the main storyline forward.

A list of quests unlocked in the Ducal Palace

Assassins at the Palace (main quest) - this quest will begin soon after your arrival at the palace, as the assassins will appear when you approach Imoen's chamber (M2,2). Additionally, you must eliminate them in the Dining Room (M2,4), and then take a part in the meeting on the ground floor, in the main hall (M2,7). Afterwards, you will be able to leave the palace.

My Missed Fortune (side quest) - this quest becomes active as soon as you reach the palace. You must reach the treasury located in the basement of the palace (M2,12) and speak with the treasurer Ophyllis. Afterwards, you will be forced to complete the quest if you want to regain your fortune.

Skie's Grand Plan (side quest) - After the meeting on the ground floor of the palace (M2,7) ends, you must speak with Skie, who can be found in the area. She will ask the main character to meet her in a private place.

The War at Home (side quest) - You must speak with Jospil, who can be found on the ground floor of the palace (M2,9) twice - first time to unlock this quest, and the second one to learn more about the conducted warfare operations.

Sarevok's Servant (side quest) - you can unlock this quest only if you've arrested Korlasz. After reaching her cell in the basement (M2,11), you will notice that the woman was able to escape, and you will be forced to defeat her again (this time the encounter will result in her death).

The Fist Restrained (side quest) - take an interest in the cell located in the basement of the palace (M2,13b), in which the Flaming Fist officer is held captive. Setting him free is the main objective of this quest, and you should have no problems doing so, as the key required to open the cell can be found nearby (M2,14).

Refuge for the Refugees (side quest) - After getting to the palace courtyard (M2,15) you must speak with Gerachen, and talk about the methods used to help the incoming refugees. Then you must decide how you will help the refugees (by obtaining supplies or visiting the Flaming Hand headquarters and complaining about Garachen).

Recruitment Drive (side quest) - before you leave the palace (M2,8), you must speak with Schael Corwin, and bring up the topic of your former party members (some of them accompanied you during your exploration of the Korlasz Family Tomb, but there are more of them available). The woman will give you information about the locations in which you can look for them. Recruiting them is optional, of course, as well as the order in which you reach them.

All the Way to the Bank (side quest) - after getting to the palace courtyard (M2,15), you must meet with a merchant called Teera, and promise her to deliver a sack of gold to a loan shark.
