How to begin the adventure in the Siege of Dragonspear expansion? | Important information BG: Siege of Dragonspear Guide
Last update: 02 June 2016
There are several ways to begin the campaign introduced by the Siege of Dragonspear expansion. The most obvious method, is to import the team from the basic version of the game (the appropriate option can be found in the main menu of the game), which is the Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition. It will allow you to continue the adventure with the heroes that are familiar to, and were thoroughly developed by you.
If you don't want to, or can't (because of the lack of saved games) import a team from the primary campaign, you can either create a single, new character, or prepare a whole team of up to six adventurers. Interestingly enough, you don't have to worry about being forced to play with a team of greenhorns, who won't be able to handle the dangers of the expansion, because the game allows the heroes you create to be properly developed.
In case you've decided to create a single hero, or an incomplete party, the game will automatically fill the rest of the empty slots. The following rules apply here:
- For a character / party of good alignment, the following heroes can be assigned: Khalid (a half-elf warrior), Jaheira (a half-elf fighter / druid), Minsc (a human ranger), Safana (a human rogue), or Dynaheir (a human invoker).
- For a character / party of neutral alignment, the following heroes can be assigned: Khalid (a half-elf warrior), Dorn (a half-orc blackguard), Jaheira (a half-elf fighter / druid), Safana (a human rogue), or Neera (a half-elf wild mage).
- For a character / party of evil alignment, the following heroes can be assigned: Viconia (a dark-elf / drow cleric), Dorn (a half-orc blackguard), Safana (a human rogue), Edwin (a human conjurer), or Baeloth (a dark-elf / drow sorcerer).
Note - the additional members of the party will accompany your main character during the exploration of the first in-game area, the Korlasz Family Tomb. After exploring it, you will be separated, however you will be able to recruit them again.
Note - if you haven't played the Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition yet, don't rush with beginning the adventure there, as the Siege of Dragonspear allows you to export the team from the expansion to use in the second installment of the saga.
