Finding Korlasz - main quest | Korlasz Family Tomb BG: Siege of Dragonspear Guide

Last update: 11 May 2016

Note - the journey through the crypt is quite linear. However, you should still try to explore all the side rooms and speak with all the characters you stumble upon, which will allow you to unlock a number of side quests along the way as well (the descriptions of those quests can be found in the next chapter of this guide).

Get rid of the Followers of Saverok. - Finding Korlasz - main quest | Korlasz Family Tomb - Korlasz Family Tomb - Baldurs Gate: Siege of Dragonspear Game Guide
Get rid of the Followers of Saverok.

The game starts at the southern section of the map, on the upper floor of the tomb (M1,1). You can speak with Imoen here, as well as familiarize yourself with the services provided by the Flaming Fist Healer. She can heal your party, as well as sell various potions and scrolls. Additionally, you can learn from her about the methods of dealing with the undead creatures lurking in the tomb. An important thing is the fact, that the allies will follow (in a certain distance) the player's party, meaning that, if the situation calls for it, you can use, for instance, the healing services of the Flaming Fist Healer.

There's a destroyed bridge in the neighboring area (M1,2). Listen to the conversation with Porios and head to the eastern room. You will arrive in the area, in which you must eliminate a group of Followers of Saverok (M1,4).

You can convince Porios and his men to lay down their arms. - Finding Korlasz - main quest | Korlasz Family Tomb - Korlasz Family Tomb - Baldurs Gate: Siege of Dragonspear Game Guide
You can convince Porios and his men to lay down their arms.

After the encounter ends, look for the closed door, leading to a new crypt (M1,5). If you have a rogue in your party, you can use his / her thievery skills to open the passage and save a lot of time needed to explore the tomb. Otherwise, go to the neighboring room (M1,6), in which you will meet the mage called Porios again. If you carry out the conversation in a proper way, you will be able to intimidate the enemies and force them to lay down their arms. If the intimidation attempt fails, you will have to fight with Porios and his companions. You should focus all your attention on the mage himself, to prevent him from casting spells during the encounter. Furthermore, it's worth to increase the party's resistance to spell before the encounter starts.

The Tomb Key, required to open the closed door of the northern tomb can be found inside of Porios' corpse, or by his robes, if you convinced him to surrender to the Flaming Fist.

Use the mechanism to rise the gate. - Finding Korlasz - main quest | Korlasz Family Tomb - Korlasz Family Tomb - Baldurs Gate: Siege of Dragonspear Game Guide
Use the mechanism to rise the gate.

Regardless of your approach (opening the door, acquiring the key), reach the stairs (M1,7) leading to the lower level of the tomb. Starting from this place, you have to watch out for numerous traps scattered around the area (use a scout to mark their location and don't rush while exploring the tomb), as well as for various undead creatures lurking in the bomb (skeletons, zombies, shadows, and so on). If you have difficulties eliminating them, follow the hints about combating undead creatures you've acquired from the Flaming Fist healer. Your destination is the large hall with the closed gate (M1,13), where a group of monsters will await you.

Head to the neighboring, western room (M1,17), where you will meet a group of mercenaries. You can behave similarly to the encounter with Porios - you can either attack them, or force them to leave this place (intimidate them by telling them, that you've killed their brethren). Regardless of the outcome of the meeting, you must interact with the mechanism, which will open the gate to the main hall.

Its worth to get back near the previous room, so that your allies will join the fight. - Finding Korlasz - main quest | Korlasz Family Tomb - Korlasz Family Tomb - Baldurs Gate: Siege of Dragonspear Game Guide
It's worth to get back near the previous room, so that your allies will join the fight.

Go to the northern room, where you will find Korlasz (M1,19). This time the game won't allow you to avoid combat - what is more, there will be mercenaries and skeletons to defeat here as well. As soon as the encounter starts, you should consider retreating to the southern hall, allowing the members of the Flaming Fist to join the fight. As far as the encounter goes, you should order most of your party members to attack Korlasz, dealing with the other enemies only when they become a hindrance. Try to strip Korlasz of her protection barrier, opening her up for damage. Additionally, you can increase the magic resistance of your team before the encounter starts, as Korlasz focuses on those type of attacks. You should also have potions and / or spells allowing you to dispel negative effects, such as blindness, slow, or poison.

You can arrest Korlasz, or continue the encounter to kill her. - Finding Korlasz - main quest | Korlasz Family Tomb - Korlasz Family Tomb - Baldurs Gate: Siege of Dragonspear Game Guide
You can arrest Korlasz, or continue the encounter to kill her.

After Korlasz loses most of her health, she will decide to surrender. You can accept her offer and hand her to the members of the Flaming Fist, or ignore her plea and continue encounter, which will result in her death. Regardless of your choice, check the items that belonged to Korlasz, as you will be able to acquire the Knave's Robe, Cloak of Protection, and Bracers of Defense.

After a short while you will automatically start a conversation with Imoen. You can, as she suggests, leave the place immediately, or (which is a better idea) complete the exploration of the rest of the tomb (together with Korlasz's private quarters). If you've chosen the latter, you must get back to the starting point (M1,1) and tell Imoen, that you can travel to the Ducal Palace.
