Moving around the city | Compendium of knowledge AC: Revelations Guide

In AC Revelations there are some changes in moving around the city. First of all, due to lack of open space, you can't ride horses. But this doesn't mean that you have to go everywhere on foot. There is a sewer system in Constantinople, allowing fast transportation between districts. All descends are marked on the map and free of charge. The only condition to use them is to remain anonymous. If you're being chased by guards, sewers become unavailable.

A novelty in series is hook blade, which you receive from Yusuf during completing the main game plot. It has some interesting uses.

First of all you can use it to slide down ropes hanging between buildings. To do this, stand next to the upper end of rope and jump along it (RT+A). By holding and releasing RT you control the slide speed.

It is also possible to perform air assassinations (X).

Thanks to hook blade you can also faster climb up buildings. By holding RT and pressing A quickly, you can get to the top much faster. Sometimes using the hooked blade is even necessary. This applies to the situation, when you run up the wall. If during this operation you quickly press A, Ezio will jump higher, grabbing the previously inaccessible edge.

Another interesting way to use a new toy is so called long jumps. While moving around the city or in catacombs, you'll often encounter small metal objects hanging on chains. Of you jump towards them in a normal ways, they'll move you to the left or to the right. But if you press B before grabbing them, you'll use the hook blade. You'll perform then a long leap ahead.

You should also remember that if you hold B while falling down, you'll hook the nearest edge, avoiding collision with the ground. In the same way you can lengthen your jumps between buildings.

The last two ways of using the hook blade concern direct contacts with opponents. If you see a guard while running (by holding RT), press or hold B when you get next to him. In the first case you'll knock him down and in the second case you'll jump over him without losing a balance.
