The Lonely Forest | They Are Billions campaign walkthrough They Are Billions guide, walkthrough
Last update: 08 July 2019
The Lonely Forest is one of several story missions of They Are Billions campaign where you won't come across a single infected person, except for the final hordes that will appear on day 40. This significantly changes the course of the game, because there is no need to worry about the protection of colonies from infected attacks. In this chapter you will find a walkthrough and advice related to The Lonely Forest mission available in story mode.
How to unlock and goals
Unlock method: It gets unlocked after completing The Narrow Pass mission.
Mission objective:
- The number of colonies: 1600.
- Survive the attacks of all hordes.
The mission
- As mentioned in the introduction, you won't come across a single infected person here - the whole map is free of enemies, there isn't even a single enemy unit on it.
- Use the available units to discover the entire map, making it easy to plan base expansions.
- Start with a standard expansion - build 3 Tents, then build 2 Hunter Cottages and add a few extra Tents later. When the population arrives, build a Sawmill.
- The first step is to start the expansion to the southeast - there you will find the stone deposit. Build a Quarry on it. Continue with the expansion to the south, where the iron deposit is located.
- Expand your colony's range to the entire map and its outskirts - it's useful for building fortifications against a hordes attack on day 40.
- Build a lot of Sawmills - wood will be useful for building defensive walls.
- Use multiple green areas to build multiple Farms - there is a large colony size to get, so food will come in handy. Don't forget to build Hunter's Hut if the value of food production exceeds 10 units.
- It is worth building a few Warehouses to increase the storage capacity of the colony - this will be useful during the intensive recruitment of units.
- Start building fortifications around day 30 - there aren't many narrow passages here, so it's better to surround the whole colony with a wall. Enemies will come from all sides.
- Focus on recruiting Soldiers and Snipers, with a ratio of about 1:1 - Snipers will deal with more resilient enemies, while Soldiers will be great against standard opponents.
Tips
At the end we present a handful of tips related to The Lonely Forest mission in They Are Billions:
- Do not create protective structures before the 30th day of the mission - it is better to use these funds to expand the colony and increase the amount of income (mainly gold and iron).
- When building fortifications, it's worth erecting a two-row wall with several rows of Stakes Trap in front of it. If you have the means to do so, it's also a good idea to set up some Wasp guns directly in front of the wall - they deal good damage and distract enemies from the walls.
- If you have access to Stone Wall, try to improve the wall around the colony. This will probably not set them for the whole wall, but it is worth improving at least the northern, southern, eastern and western parts of the wall, as most enemies will come from these directions, much more than from "diagonal" directions.
- Rangers do not work very well here, it is better to recruit Soldiers and Snipers. Set up Snipers on the towers to increase their range, and Soldiers between the towers, directly below the walls.
- If you have access to the Lucifer unit, you should use it here. It's perfect against standard type of enemies. These units can also often be recruited in the Inn.
