How to unlock and goals
How to start: unlocked after completing The Crossroads mission
Mission objective:
- Destroy all infected.
- Survive all the hordes.
The mission
- The mission itself isn't different from the previous one - you have to protect the building is in the center of the map (Outpost), shoot all the enemies with the units purchased for Empire Points.
- You have to defeat fewer units - 600 of them. However, these ones are Runners - they move faster than regular enemies.
- Deploy 4 Rangers in two places on the map - place 2 of them, for example, on the southern and eastern edge of the map. Spend the rest of the points on Soldiers and place them around the building you protect. Lastly, spend 40-60 points to build a few barricades in narrow passages (e.g. between the trees.) Everything is shown in the picture above.
- Once the mission starts, use the Rangers placed on the edges to divert the attention of enemies. If you are unable to "be in multiple locations at the same time", use the active pause (Space) to plan your orders. Thanks to distraction, you will avoid a situation where all the enemies appear in the center of the map.
- Place the Soldiers in such a way that would allow them to react to the enemy actions - if more enemies attack you from one side than the other, send more Soldiers to that place. Remember to keep distracting some enemy units with Rangers.
- When the number of enemies drops to 1/3 (~200), kill the remaining units to complete the mission.
Tips
- You should start this mission by having at least 1,150 Empire Points - you can get them by completing all the missions described in this guide that precede this one.
- You have to eliminate fewer enemies, but they are much more mobile and pose a greater threat - use Rangers to distract their attention. However, this step isn't mandatory.
- It is worth spending 40-60 points to set a few barriers in the narrow passages - they will delay the movement of enemy units, giving your Soldiers a few extra seconds.
