In all, The Last Guardian offers 24 trophies (including one platinum). Their list can be found below. The section also contains tips on how to unlock all trophies.

Note - Many trophies (e.g. speedrunning ones or those rewarded for completing the game without dying) are easier to acquire thanks to thorough knowledge of the game. Don't worry if you had acquired only some of them during your first playthrough - check the guidelines, and follow them during your next contact with the game.

All Talked Out (Silver)

A hint should be heard once you stay in a certain location for a prolonged period of time - The Last Guardian trophies - Basic information - The Last Guardian Game Guide
A hint should be heard once you stay in a certain location for a prolonged period of time

Requirements: You have to listen to every hint.

Commentary: A hint by the narrator can be heard if you are staying too long in one place, e.g. when searching for the way forward, or how to solve a puzzle. This means that you should stay longer than required in every location, hoping that a new hint will be heard

Additional hints are also heard when unlocking some of the trophies (e.g. eliminating animated armors in a certain way), so you'll need to get them also.

Balancing Barrels (Silver)

Requirements: You need to move 10 meters with two stacked barrels.

Commentary: To easily attain this trophy, find a small location with at least two barrels that are close to each other. Remember that once you've piled up the barrels, and picked them up, you need to begin a very slow walk, and keep to flat surfaces, otherwise the upper barrel may fall down. If you don't want to waste time on finding a location with a few barrels, begin a new game - the starting location contains three barrels.

Beast Friends Forever (Silver)

Requirements: Paint Trico's body.

Commentary: This trophy is very time-consuming, as in all, you have to find 96 barrels. During a single playthrough, you can find a little over 40 barrels, which means that in best case scenario, you'll have to finish the game two times, and complete the third playthrough in half (on the premise that you've picked up every possible barrel). Each found barrel is automatically "added to the count"

Once you've acquired 96 barrels, you need to pause the game, and enter Items. Choose Fine Featherpainter paint, which will load an alternative look for Trico.

Broad-Backed (Bronze)

Requirements: Land on Tricos back once youve catapulted from the wagon - The Last Guardian trophies - Basic information - The Last Guardian Game Guide

Requirements: Land on Trico's back once you've catapulted from the wagon.

Commentary: The wagon needed to acquire this trophy is found in the room shown on the screenshot. Here, you'll need to solve a puzzle in which the boy has to catapulted to the grate by the ceiling of this hall. Before you've proceed with the real objective, "park" the wagon in a different area (outside of the lit area), get on it and order Trico to catapult the boy. When falling down, try to aim at Trico and land on his back.

Collar (Bronze)

Requirements: Make Trico put his head into every possible hole.

Commentary: Some locations contain small passageways or holes which are too small for Trico to pass through. Once you've nearby one of such places, call Trico. Your companion will attempt to cross through a hole, but he'll only be able to stick his head in.

Cryptozoologist (Bronze)

Climb on the monsters fighting with Trico - The Last Guardian trophies - Basic information - The Last Guardian Game Guide
Climb on the monsters fighting with Trico

Requirements: Touch all enemy beasts

Commentary: This trophy can be scored during the final battle, where Trico is attacked by seven other beasts. To get it, avoid making any progress in the battle (don't pick up the mirror, or don't begin the search for Trico's tail when it gets severed). Instead, climb on every beast on the scene. You don't have to press Circle to pat them, as every contact with each monster's body counts (his plumage, to be exact).

Dressed for the Fest (Silver)

Requirements: Gather and wear all available outfits for the boy.

Commentary: It's a very time-consuming trophy, as to get all the outfits you'll need to finish the game two times. New clothes are unlocked after a certain number of barrels is brought to Trico:

  • Finding and delivering 24 barrels unlocks Enduring Attire
  • Finding and delivering 32 barrels unlocks Homecoming
  • Finding and delivering 48 barrels unlocks Horned Apparel
  • Finding and delivering 64 barrels unlocks Warrior's Clothes

You can gather only 40 something barrels during each playthrough, which means that you'll need to finish the game again to get the later outfits. Each found barrel is automatically "added to the count"

An outfit can be changed only once you've cleared the game for the first time, and began another playthrough. Then, stop the game, go to options, and choose Items.

Fleet Emissary (Silver)

Requirements: Finish the game in less than 15 hours.

Commentary: One of three "speedrunner" trophies. 15 hours should be more than enough time to finish the game. It's possible to score this achievement during your first playthrough, provided you won't spend too much time on exploring, and won't spend prolonged amounts of time on puzzle solving.

Get Off My Back! (Silver)

Requirements: Jump on the back of a suit of armor, and hold on to it for at least 30 seconds.

Commentary: This Trophy can be acquired during the first battle with animated armors (the hall with a large cage and antenna) or anywhere later. Remember that the enemies have to be occupied with attacking Trico, and not with catching the boy. Go behind any of the armors attacking Trico, and press Triangle to jump on its back. Now hold Circle. This is not all - you need to avoid being thrown off before the time elapses. Don't release Circle, and move the analog stick left and right, except the situation when the monster tries to lean back.

Intensive Care (Golden)

Requirements: Remove every spear from Trico's body as soon as possible.

Commentary: Spears are thrown by some of the animated suits of armor. Remember to remove them from Trico's body as quickly as possible. If it's possible, stay on his back during combat, and quickly remove a projectile if it hits.

Keep On Running (Golden)

Stay mobile and make a lot of shoulder rolls - The Last Guardian trophies - Basic information - The Last Guardian Game Guide
Stay mobile and make a lot of shoulder rolls

Requirements: You need to avoid Trico for at least 3 minutes once he goes wild in the antenna room.

Commentary: You can make an attempt on this Trophy in any hall with a cage and an antenna. Once the antenna is activated, Trico starts acting weird, and will try to eat the boy. Start running around Trico, and avoid getting caught. Use shoulder rolls (Square) and avoid bumping into your companion, as this may daze the boy for a moment and allow Trico to catch him.

Note - If you got caught by Trico QUICKLY pause the game, and load the last checkpoint. If you were fast enough, the game will load a state that begins before you have to avoid Trico.

Last-Minute Reprieve (Bronze)

Trico can help when the suit of armor is carrying the boy in the direction of the blue door - The Last Guardian trophies - Basic information - The Last Guardian Game Guide
Trico can help when the suit of armor is carrying the boy in the direction of the blue door

Requirements: You need to make Trico defeat 20 suits of armor which are currently carrying the boy.

Commentary: This Trophy involves Trico having to attack an animated armor when it carries the boy in the direction of the blue door. This means you cannot save yourself by quick pressing of the pad buttons. To gain this trophy, choose any larger battle during the game. Additionally, after each successful attack (ending with defeating the armor and releasing the boy), you can pause the game, load the last checkpoint and repeat the whole operation.

Lifeline (Silver)

Requirements: The boy has to be saved from falling 10 times by using Trico's tail.

Commentary: This trophy can be scored in the further part of the game, as at the beginning Trico doesn't have the ability to save the boy by extending his tail. Once he learns this trick, search for any location in which there is a risk of falling into the abyss. Once the boy starts falling down, the time should slow down, which means that Trico will attempt to catch the boy using his tail. If such action was successful, pause the game, load the last checkpoint and repeat it (9 more times).

Lightning Emissary (Golden)

Requirements: Finish the game in less than 5 hours.

Commentary: One of three "speedrunner" trophies. Reaching the end credits in 5 hours requires major knowledge of the game mechanics. Other than that, you need to know the levels by heart to solve puzzles quickly and have perfect control over Trico. When going for the speedrun, don't try to score other trophies - devote the whole playthrough to get the trophy. If you've managed to complete all sequences without fail, and you didn't had any unnecessary delays, your playthrough should last around 4 hours and 40 minutes. Sadly, the game doesn't have any in-game counter, so you'll need to set a stopwatch.

Note - The time still ticks even if you pause the game. The only way to stop it is to return to the console's main menu, or turning off the game.

Note #2 - If you want, you can try to trick the game, and download your saved games to a USB device. If you decide that a certain section took longer time than necessary, exit the game, copy the old save from the pendrive and try again.

Lock, Stock and Barrel (Golden)

Requirements: Find and bring all barrels to Trico.

Commentary: Barrels are somewhat of a secret in The Last Guardian. They are used as food for Trico, and most of them are hidden in locations that are completely optional to visit. To find all the barrels, take your time and thoroughly investigate all new areas.

Losing Their Minds (Golden)

Requirements: You need to eliminate 10 suits of armor by severing their heads

Commentary: This trophy is easier to acquire than it may seem, as after a successful severing you can pause the game, load the last checkpoint, and repeat the action. To sever a head of a monster, you need to wait until a suit of armor gets knocked down to the floor by Trico. Approach the monster before he gets up. Press Circle to catch the head of a suit of armor, and move the analog stick in any direction to start tearing it away. The action should be successful after a moment.

Note - Choose one of the larger battles to acquire this trophy, so Trico won't be completely focused on completely eliminating a given enemy, and won't "interrupt" the boy in severing his head.

Practice Makes Perfect (Bronze)

Requirements: Make Trico catch a barrel in air at least 20 times.

Commentary: Barrels that will be used on Trico can be placed on the floor next to him, but to get this trophy, perform the required action often. Before you throw the barrel, call Trico to be sure that he is ready. The throw is often successful in the boy stands more or less on the same level as his beast (unfortunately, taking a barrel to some higher ledge is not always possible).

Spry Emissary (Bronze)

Requirements: Finish the game in less than 30 hours.

Commentary: One of three "speedrunner" trophies. Considering that 30 hours is a very long period of time to beat the somewhat limited content of the game, you should get this trophy during your first playthrough.

That Hits the Spot (Bronze)

Requirements: Hit suits of armor with barrels or pots 20 times

Commentary: This trophy is very easy to acquire, as after a successful throw you can stop the game, load the last checkpoint, and repeat the whole action. Make a successful throw 20 times.

The Call of Nature (Golden)

Trico may do his thing after a battle - The Last Guardian trophies - Basic information - The Last Guardian Game Guide
Trico may do his thing after a battle

Requirements: Catch Trico when he is taking care of business

Commentary: This trophy is hard to describe, as it isn't connected to any location in the game world, and concerns Trico's behavior which can easily be missed. During an idle moment, the monster can take a piss. You'll recognize the moment when he begins to do something that seems like a dance. You should be a witness to such situation at least once during a playthrough, but if you want to be sure, make a habit of looking at your companion during idle moments. If you notice that Trico jumps up and down, don't go away, but stay in place and keep looking at him. The last opportunity to unlock this trophy happens on the top of the main tower at the end of the game (last idle area before approaching the strange construction and the arrival of other beasts.

The Last Guardian (Platinum)

Requirements: Get all the remaining trophies.

Though We Are Far Apart (Bronze)

Requirements: Finish the game.

Notes: This trophy is automatically acquired once you complete the game, however you need to watch the credits and an additional movie after them.

Thundering Wonder (Bronze)

The requirements of this trophy are easily met during the large battle taking place at the base of the highest tower. - The Last Guardian trophies - Basic information - The Last Guardian Game Guide
The requirements of this trophy are easily met during the large battle taking place at the base of the highest tower.

Requirements: Defeat 20 suits of armor using the projectiles shot from Trico's tail

Commentary: This is one of the easiest trophies. Don't attempt to score it at the beginning of the game, as there aren't any enemies to rack up the required amount of hits. Instead, wait for the encounter with the enemy beast in the later part of the game, as you'll regain the ability to use the mirror. From that moment, search for opportunities to point the mirror and send projectiles aimed at animated armors (some of these attacks are mandatory to progress in the game). A good place to rack up 20 eliminations is the large battle taking place at the base of the highest tower. Once you move away from fighting Trico, start aiming at the enemies using your mirror.

Untouchable Emissary (Golden)

Requirements: Finish the game without a single death.

Commentary: It's a very difficult trophy to acquire, as many of the visited locations are surrounded by abysses, and it's easy to fall down and lose your chance for the trophy. Other than that, some of the situations force quick decisions (e.g. sudden collapse of the scaffolding, or having to avoid the monster hunting the boy), and an inadequate reaction can result in our character's death. Target this trophy only when you've finished the game at least once, so you have managed to get acquainted with the controls, and know how to counter the dangers to which our heroes are subjected during the game.

Note - If you made a mistake, and begin to fall down a chasm, pause the game QUICKLY and load the last checkpoint. This way the game won't count the fall as death.

Note - If you want, you can try to trick the game, and transfer your saved games to a USB device. In case of a sudden death, you can transfers the saves from the USB device back to the console, and continue your playthrough with a clean slate.
