Songs of Conquest's spell book contains dozens of spells, but not all of them are worth your attention. On this page of the guide we have included a summary of the best spells you should use. We described their requirements and at what moments of the battle it is best to activate them. This will enable you to make better use of your wielder's magical abilities.
The list of recommended spells is divided according to the categories in which they appear. In the descriptions of the spells you will also find information about the essence required to cast them.

Order
Quicken
Required Essence: Order x5
The spell increases a unit stack's initiative and range of movement. Use it on your strong units, who will be able to make their moves faster and reach the enemies. Higher levels of the spell enable you to buff several troop stacks.
Rally
Required Essence: Order x12
The spell increases defense, melee attack, ranged attack and resistance to spell damage for all your troops. Use it at the beginning of a new round to make the bonuses last the longest. Each additional level increases the bonuses by 10 points / percent.
It is also worth using a simpler version of this spell - Protection. It offers fewer bonuses and will not work for the entire army. Cast Protection on troops that have a high risk of being targeted by the enemies.
Destruction
Sabotage
Required Essence: Destruction x8
The spell lowers the defense and spell damage resistance of all opponents. This is a good spell to cast at the beginning of a round before your troops launch their attacks. Each additional level of the spell increases the effectiveness by 10 points / percent.
Fireball
Required Essence: Destruction x4
The spell deals 50 damage to all troops within range of the fireball. You have to be careful, because it's an area spell and also covers all surrounding fields. Each additional level of the spell increases the damage.
Arcana
Dimensional Door
Required Essence: Arcana x6
The spell moves your selected stack by up to 2 fields. This is a good way to move your units so that they can, for example, approach enemies faster or occupy the high ground. Higher levels of the spell increase the range of movement.
Arcane Storm
Required Essence: Arcana x14
The spell deals 30 damage to all troops within range of the storm. You have to be careful because it's an area spell and also covers fields up to 2 away from the point of attack. Each additional level of the spell increases the damage.
Creation
Insect Swarm
Required Essence: Creation x4
The spell deals 5 damage and lowers the initiative of an enemy stack by 10. Especially the latter feature is important, because it can delay the moment of activation of a strong enemy stack. Each additional level means 5 more damage and 5 less initiative.
Mist
Required Essence: Creation x7
The spell makes your selected troop stack temporarily unable to be attacked. This can be interrupted if the stack attacks or activates a skill. This is a great technique for protecting, for example, ranged troops while they are reloading weapons. Higher levels of the spell enable you to protect several stacks.
Chaos
Chain Lightning
Required Essence: Chaos x14
This is one of the best offensive spells in the game. The spell deals 40 damage to the selected stack and can jump 2 times to other troops up to 2 fields away, dealing the same damage each time. It is great for attacking clusters of enemy troops. Each successive level increases the damage.
Dyads
Explosive Fungi
Required Essence: Creation x3, Destruction x3
The spell enables you to place 3 mines and each mine deals 30 damage when stepped on. This is especially helpful in locations with narrow spots that force enemies to take a single route. Each additional level increases mine damage by 30 points.
Strengthen Essence
Required Essence: Order x3, Arcana x3
The spell increases by 100% the generation of all types of essences in your selected stack. Select a stack that generates more than 1 essence by default. This will enable you to cast spells more often. Subsequent levels expand the effect of the spell by 1 round (first level lasts 2 rounds).
Clouded Vision
Required Essence: Order x3, Creation x3
The spell reduces the attack range of an enemy's ranged troop stack by 50%. The spell is useful for large concentrations of enemies attacking from a distance - you can make it difficult for them to hit your troops from the middle part of the battlefield. Higher levels of the spell enable you to impose a penalty on several enemy stacks.
Burst of Strength
Required Essence: Chaos x4, Destruction x4
The spell increases damage by 1 for all friendly troops (e.g. if a stack has 20 units then its damage will increase by 20). Cast this spell at the beginning of the round to gain the most from it. Each successive level raises the damage by another point.
Justice
Required Essence: Order x5, Destruction x5
The spell kills a unit from the opponent's stack. You can get the best results by choosing stacks with elite units with a large number of health points, which are difficult to eliminate. Each additional level of the spell increases the number of enemy units killed by 1.
Entangled
Required Essence: Creation x6, Arcana x6
The spell immobilizes the selected enemy stack for 1 round. Cast this spell on exceptionally strong enemies who focus on hand-to-hand combat. Each additional level of the spell extends the detention time of enemy stack by 1 round.
Onslaught
Required Essence: Order x6, Chaos x6
The spell enables 1 additional attack to your selected stack. Cast it at the strongest units in your army so that they do as much total damage as possible through several attacks. Each additional level of the spell increases the duration by 1 round.
Breath of the Phoenix
Required Essence: Creation x7, Destruction x7
The spell deals 60 damage in a straight line over a distance of 3 fields. Use this attack in those situations where you notice perfectly positioned opponents (you can also move them with another spell first). Each additional level of the spell increases the damage.
