One of the factors in developing your Saints Row 2022 character is unlocking new skills. On this page of the guide we've listed the skills we consider the most useful. We also explain how the skill works and how to use it.
Unlocking and equipping skills
You can only acquire new skills by reaching higher experience levels. The level cap is 20, and you earn a new skill each level starting from level 2. This means there are 19 skills available total.
The Experience - how to earn? page in the FAQ chapter contains tips and tricks on how to quickly earn XP and level up.
Skills are divided into passive and active. Passive skills are always in effect once you unlock them. Active skills are a bit more problematic - you have four slots for them, forcing you to choose between them at higher levels.
Fortunately, you don't need to permanently equip skills. You can freely switch between them and match them to the situation you're facing.
You need Flow to use active skills. The yellow dots by the skill icon let you know how much Flor you need - from 1 to 3. You gain Flow in combat, and the better you do, the more of it you earn.
We recommend equipping diverse skills with different Flow costs (1, 2, 3) and different effects (offensive, defensive, AoE, etc.).
Best skills listed
Health Upgrade - Levels 5, 10, 15 - three of your passive skills are health upgrades, each one permanently granting you more maximum health. We recommend reaching Level 10 ASAP. Having a longer health bar will help you in boss fights, encounters against elite enemies or huge groups.
Tough Mother - Level 6 - activating this skill grants you a temporary bonus to damage resistance. It also prevents you from being stunned. You should make use of this skill when facing more challenging enemies. It significantly increases your chances of survival.
Frag Out - Level 7 - this skill gives you access to frag grenades. We consider them to be much better than the mines unlocked by one of the previous skills. They especially come in handy against large groups and in small rooms.
Flow Upgrade - Levels 8, 14, 20 - this passive skill is extremely useful. You can upgrade it three times total. It permanently increases your maximum Flow. This lets you use your active skills more often and save up more Flow in preparation for more difficult encounters.
Intercession - Level 17 - This skill automatically summons your Crew, the Saints' foot soldiers. They'll join the fray, fighting by your side. This grants you two main advantages - they can distract enemies and make it easier to shoot them while they're engaging your minions.
D4th Blossom - Level 19 - This is the most powerful offensive skill in the game, which lets you spin around, sending bullets everywhere, hitting all nearby enemies. We recommend saving it for the most difficult encounters, as it costs three Flor units. Run into the crowd of enemies and activate the skill to get as much out of it as possible.
