Starting advices | The basics Resident Evil Zero HD Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
Below you will find a list of general advices which you should read before starting the game. Some of these topics were described more thoroughly on previous pages of the guide or will be described directly in the walkthrough.
- Remember to check the health of your characters after each battle and use sprays or herbs whenever they are seriously hurt (orange or red color). In case of harder battles (for example with bosses) you can also heal yourself during battle.
- Don't forget about reloading your weapons. This action takes some time, especially in case of shotguns, and ignoring it can lead to unpleasant consequences if you are facing fast monsters.
- Don't save the game whenever you have an occasion to unless you are playing on lowest difficulty and you have more ribbons that you can use. Save the game mostly before boss duels and in other scenes when the main characters can die easily.
- Try to attack the enemies from distance. This will reduce the chances for you to receive damage. Get close to enemies only if you're trapped (for example, in a narrow corner) or when you use weapon which damage depends on distance from target (mostly shotguns).
- You won't find information about precise number of items in specific rooms or the number of monsters you find there as these factors depend on the difficulty level you selected. For example, you can find few herbals in a room when playing on low difficulty level but on the highest difficulty there will be no additional items in the same place. It is a good idea to thoroughly check all newly visited locations in the game - unless you're in a rush, for example being chased by strong monsters.
- Use the map frequently. Already visited rooms, available and blocked passages and items left previously on the ground are marked on it. Locations' maps can be also found in our guide.
- You don't need to kill all monsters on your way. What's more, when playing on highest difficulty level you won't have enough ammunition for that and you would have to help yourself with, for example, knife. If the circumstances allow you for that (for example, larger room or a wide passage in a wagon), try to avoid the regular zombies and other slower monsters, especially since later in the game new monsters can replace the ones you have already defeated.
- Many of the puzzles in the game are random. Their overall goals do not change each time you start them, because the only thing that changes is, e.g. combinations that you receive or pass codes. Our walkthrough describes all of the puzzles in a detailed way, so there will be no situation in which one turns out to be impossible to solve.
