Time and Random Events | Game Mechanics Northgard Guide & Walkthrough

Last update: 08 March 2018

A very important element of the game is the calendar. Not only it is a marker of time in the game, but it also informs us about the coming winter and various kinds of events that may take place in the nearest future. It is therefore important to keep it in mind and check it quite often. This will allow you to prepare for the events and minimize any potential damage.

The calendar is divided in twelve months, but it distinguishes only two seasons - summer and winter. However, the latter lasts much shorter. Although, this does not change the fact that winter is the most dangerous season of the year. During winter, the efficiency of food production and logging is decreasing, with a simultaneous increase in demand for both raw materials. So you need to have sufficient stocks to avoid a colony crisis. In addition, winter also affects your army. Their combat capabilities decrease by 30% in winter. Therefore, try to avoid fighting in the winter.

In the calendar, you will also find information about upcoming events. They are marked with an exclamation mark for the month in which they will occur. There are several different random events in the game. Each has negative consequences, but not all of them are equally dangerous. Blizzard is by far the worst random event. As a result, the demand for food and wood, which has been increased during the winter, is rising even more by an additional 50%. The loss of both of these raw materials can be significant and can deprive the stocks of supplies of even the best-prepared settlement.
