The development of the settlement requires a steady supply of three resources: wood, iron, and stone. These elements enable you to build new and upgrade existing buildings.
Wood is the most basic of these three resources, as it is needed to construct new buildings, as well as to maintain heat in the settlement during winter. You need to focus on amassing wood from the beginning of the game. You can appoint a single zone that will be dedicated to woodcutting. You may choose any zone that is currently in your territory. There is a special zone called forest which increases the wood production by 10%. It is the best zone for woodcutting, but if you aren't without access to such a zone, you don't have to frantically search for it.
Upgrading buildings and tools require a supply of stone and iron. These resources are depleted, which requires constant redeployment of miners and search for new sources of the item. There are two types of zones that contain this type of resource. First is a single deposit that accompanies a different territorial bonus such as fertile ground. They are quite common and their size is rather small.
The second option are zones that offer a few nodes of the given resource. The amount of mined resource is much bigger than in the case of the first option. Moreover, such zones are scarce - finding them takes time. If you are able to conquer such an area, make sure it is well protected - these zones are often a target of opposing clans.
