Lore mechanics in Northgard Northgard Guide & Walkthrough
Last update: 14 March 2018
The game contains a tech tree with various upgrades that are divided into three categories, each responsible for a different aspect of the colony. As a result, you receive a separate tree for resource gathering, combat, and trade. Every tree contains six bonuses that can improve the efficiency of a given aspect or remove the negative effect of an event/mechanic.
Not all elements of the tree are constant. Each clan has unique bonuses that can be activated only if you've chosen the clan in question. The advantages depend on the specialization of the clan e.g. Clan of the Stag offers bonuses to trade and resource gathering.
Unlocking a new fragment of the tree is possible only when you've amassed the right amount of Lore. To do so, you need to find a segment of the map which contains a runic stone or a circle of stones. When you've reached one of these locations, you can send villagers that will become loremasters and generate additional lore. Every new bonus costs more lore points - you need to constantly increase the amount of generated points in order to not slow down the growth of the Clan. Continue colonizing new areas with both types of buildings or construct Carved Stones in colonized zones.
Once you've unlocked the right amount of bonuses, you can unlock the blessing of one of three gods. Each offers different bonuses. As your lore increases, you can unlock the next blessings. When you activate three blessings, the final, fourth one is unlocked - activating it is a pre-requisite of winning by wisdom.
In the initial stages of the game invest in trees that offer bonuses related to resources or finances. This will stabilize your settlement economically. The military tree should be invested in only when you've made contact with the enemy clans.
